Hi so I'm new to the site but I was wondering if anyone would be intreasted in doing a truck meet some time this month. Just an idea

Question for all you peeps. Powder coating wheels... Worth it? Expensive?

Thinking about taking the wheels I took off and getting them done, if it's not too expensive & worth it.

Went to.bed at midnight cause adulting. Up at 3 to get to Logan for 5 am flight. Getting too old for such lack of sleep

 

Personally, I think it's worth it as long as their not off roading wheels because they'll just get dinged up. If you have the means, I think it's the best way to go. It is expensive but it's a durable coating. Talk to Rob @mach1man001 he had pricing from a local powder coater that was decent.

 

Good point. Definitely wouldn't br off roading with them. She's a pavement princess. I think Rob's guy wouldn't be worth it for me since it'd be so far away. Have to look into local places.

 

Shop around, prices can vary dramatically so don't get sticker shock and give up if the first place gives you an outrageous number. The next guy could literally be half as much for the same project. It all depends on their backlog and if it's something they typically do or not.

 

Add another 16" of length to that track and it's right up my alley!

Black ice like crazy out there. Some older boxy benze blew off the line at a red light next to me to cut me off to make a lane. He wound up not being able to stop for the red light and slammed into the car in front of him. Best part about it was rolling by him and using my PA to tell him Karma's a bitch. This PA has definitely paid itself off... just need the amplified speaker next.

Did a quick Google shirt and found 3 shops locally, so going to give them a buzz and see what's up.

 

They are great unless you are wheeling with them. The place I went to does great work, also Central MA powder coating does awesome work too and they would be much closer. Beware as your shopping around that most places don't do the job the same. Just as painting, powder coating is all about the prep work. My wheels underwent a 8 step process to be coated. Most places just strip them, wash them and coat them. A lot of times the coating is even done automated so it is very uneven on a wheel.
The 1st time I had it done I got a discount from the guy for doing research for him, and the one thing I learned is there are a lot of hacks out there doing this stuff. If your going to PC your wheels just ash what the process that they do is and make sure they are being stripped, cleaned, outgassed, PC primed and coated properly. GL
