Oh I do it too, but have tires capable of driving in the snow and have a vehicle equipped to do so. I don't have worn down all year tires and a subaru with no clearance. When we get 8" of snow with a layer of ice under it, not many people think any further than "my car has 4wd so I can make it". Those are the people who got sold a bill of goods on a 4wd and were never told anything further about winter driving.

Not to mention they've got low profile tires typically 55 ratio in what some would call 'all season' but is more like summer tread.

Yeah, that is true. Proper tires and a cautious throttle makes a world of difference. I used to go everywhere in all weather with a light little 2wd Nissan pickup, and I never had any trouble because I always ran dedicated snow tires on it, and put new ones on every fall. Too many people just run what they've got until they're totally smoked, and have a terrible time because of it.

I really like OTRATTW switches but I agree, their diagrams absolutely suck (if they are correct).
I usually go car shopping in the snow. No one's at the dealership and I get to play around with the new vehicles in bad conditions to see how they actually perform.
The Ferd may or may not have 55 series tires on it :anonymous:

That's ok. The Tacoma had crappy dunlops on them too. Had less than 1k before I took them off.

That's the difference, the Ford has 20" wheels with 55 series tires on them, but they're actually really good in the snow. They're Michelin AT2 tires. Lots of siping so they handle winter weather pretty well.

My elderly parents have a GLK350 with low profile all seasons on it. Not that they go out in the snow, because they don't, but man that thing is pitiful. Reminds me of the (real) top gear episode where the boys were testing SUVs and were getting stuck on a small incline...

Those are a good all season tire. They make me wish we sold Michelins, lol. But given the option I'd rather have the company pick up Coopers over Michelin, so I could get ST's and AT/W's at a discount.

Of course, it's a moot point, since they don't have plans to pick up either of those brands. :notsure:

I really like the Michelins. To me, they are a true all season tire as in, they actually perform well in all of the seasons. Most of the 'all seasons' do fine in the summer, ok in the rain and get sketchy in the snow.

I'm pleasantly surprised with how the Fortitude HT's have done so far. When I was out in the snow on Saturday the only time I used 4x4 at all was when I was doing a stretch of stoplight-to-stoplight and didn't want to bother feathering the throttle between the lights. They were really sure-footed even without any weight in the bed. Their biggest downfall that I found was that once they did break traction they were slow to regain it.

Of course, I'm probably still going to replace them with a set of the Wrangler AT Adventures in a C-load, lol.

I thought you guys could get Coopers???
    Lol

Now lower that pressure down to like 3 - 4 psi for daily driving and it should be like stock. You only need to blow them up when you are putting weight on your truck
    Yes @thepinktaco lives in Orange
Are those what the new Taco's come with?

Very limited. The company buys a couple of select models in a variety of sizes, but only when they can get them at a discount. Forget special ordering them.
They really just stick with our core lines of Goodyear, Dunlop, Kelly, Pirelli, Kumho, Kenda, and a couple of random brands from over the great wall.

In all honesty, my STi with the first generation Continental ContiExtremeContacts (not the newer DWS style) tires was the best vehicle I have ever used in the snow, ever.

My truck was fine out on Friday, although it likes to push too much rather than come around. I did have to use 4WD once to get started up a tiny incline, which surprised me since I do have snows, although I don't have any weight in the bed.

Mornin' troops. Hopefully today is a bit calmer than yesterday. I'm covering for the entire quality department this week - 4 of us total. I swear there's people that wait until others are out to stir the pot... Seeing it's almost the end of the year, shipping is the highest priority.

^^^ Well that doesn't sound fun at all.

Everyone get there shopping done? Anyone have any input on a portable bluetooth music speaker? There are tons of them out there. Which one is good for the money?
