Dude is crazy. He has had some of the best 3rd gen threads though. When he first started he didn't use any punctuation. Paragraphs of run on sentences just rambling making zero sense.

Morning all. Happy rainy hump day (at least down here it is).

 

He started another thread yesterday that was insane. Jim Bean had enough of his shit and put away ban hammers and locks, some members took things to a whole new level. Thread turned into a shit show and after a few hours gave him a ban. No posts were deleted though, and I think OP was the only ban that resulted from the thread.

No can do, unfortunately. My Supervisor Captain Useless is out of the office today, so I'm doing the work he's supposed to do (but typically doesn't, from the size of the backlog I've been working through this morning) for the next couple of days.

 

That fucking blows to say the least.

 

Meh. It is what it is.

He got promoted by a former director of sales who didn't want anything to do with running my location, so he just promoted the oldest person in the office on the basis of 'age = experience' I think. Even though I've got management experience and my current supervisor doesn't, which shows. He's been digging his own grave since he got the job, though, and I've been helping by forwarding his boss a list of everything that he hasn't done whenever he's not here. Then I burn through it in a day or two and send his boss the completed list and say that there's no reason for there to be a backlog at all, since it's literally all he has to do in a day. The office more or less manages itself, he has no accounts to manage, no email orders to place or respond to, and he doesn't take any inbound calls unless everybody else in the office is on the phone. Literally all he's assigned to do is inventory management and the time cards, and he doesn't even keep up with that. Time cards are always a panicked rush for him at the end of the week, and I'm working on 3 weeks of inventory discrepancies that hadn't been addressed yet.


But, I torpedoed him to everybody in management that I could at our annual end-of-year meeting/holiday party this year, and I convinced 4 or 5 of my coworkers to do the same. The response I got from every member of management that I talked to was that "off the record" nobody in the upper echelons of the company likes or respects him, they know he doesn't do a good job, and they're just working on building a case to fire him. But, since he's been here almost 10 years they need a solid record of nonperformance first, and to keep sending my reports. So we'll see. Maybe I'll end up getting myself fired for undermining him, but whatever. If that happens I don't want to work here anyway, haha!

 

DANG MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! Sadly I think that scenario happens in quite a few places. Not saying it is the case in mine, but I've heard stories, etc.

For sure. And I've had worse jobs, with worse managers.

 

10 years seems like long time to "build a case".

 

It was raining in Somerville, snowing here in Littleton. If I had known that I probably would have worked from home. Oh well, I've got enough on my plate anyways. I can't be nearly as productive at home with titanfall calling to me...

 

He's been with the company for 10 years. He's only been in this position for about 18 months.

 

I feel the pain all too well. Same reason why I've resigned myself that I'm where I will be for the rest of the time I stay here. With my service time though it may not make sense to look outside.

 

Perfect example of the Peter Principle at work.
