I have a stupid question about that coin thread... @ERMB might be able to answer better since it looks like he submitted a couple designs (which I voted for just not by the way ).

What exactly is it about? Make coins/token like items that you can buy??!! Too lazy to read through the thread.

Morning all. What's a weekend first of all? I just got back to work from vacation on Tuesday. I'll be working Saturday here at my full time, as well as Friday and Saturday nights at my part time. might do my front bearings/ ECGS bushing on Sunday. Depends on how dead I am, and if the girlfriend will let me have my one day off to myself...

Clearly it's been a while since you took health class in high school.

 

It's a Challenge coin. Some use them at bars, if someone challenges you and you don't have a coin you buy a round, if someone challenges and you have a coin they buy. Some service folks have used them and the one with the highest ranking get drink paid for by lower ranking.

Or just something to give to others that help or whatever you feel. There is more to the story, I think in the first post there is a link.

 

Well from what I got from it, they are like gift keep sake. Very popular in the military, which is where I guess the tradition started. There is also a social aspect to them as well which is where they got the name challenge coins. GI's would carry their coins with them at all times so when they were out and ran it to other soldiers they could throw their coin out on the table as a challenge. If the other soldier did not have his coin he was obligated to buy him a drink...or something like that 100%
