Yup the tax thing started 11/1/91. I remember b/c I paid $700 for my Camaro in early 1992 and the guy chuckled saying "oh you are gonna get whacked on sales tax". I locked eyes and said "I know. Yet another way you screw the public and we can't do anything about it. So shut your mouth, do your job, and get me my paperwork NOW"

They're also extremely futuristic compared to some parts of the country as sad as that is.

Just take my truck, the tow setup is in the back of the bed and the hookup is under the bumper by the spare. Just remember to unplug the truck BEFORE you drive away.....

I wouldn't be so annoyed if I didn't renew my license at that exact same branch with a credit card less than a year ago.

I get why they did it--people were writing $500 on a bill of sale just to avoid as much tax as possible. But the thing is, I paid $1000 for my Volvo. Not $6000 (which is roughly what I think it'll book for). It had a ton of issues, so they sold it cheap.

...and if they're going to insist, why can't we at least have the ability to use cards like every other place in the country does? Because they are so ambiguous about how they arrive at the book value I can't realistically predict how much cash I'll need. And I was hoping to never order checks again in my life because I almost never need one.

Exactly. In my case I bought most cars at auctions. In theory an auction is the true test of an item's value. Random item, random day, crowd, etc..

The snow I've gotten so far is pretty slick. Almost like driving on ice. Have to use 4wd to keep the rear in check. And my ABS has once again caused me to completely slide through an intersection.

Just a dusting in Brighton, also seems like it's done. I don't even think there's an inch out there.

Been driving the mustang around. No ABS, no traction control, spins the tires in snow at idle. Makes me appreciate my truck. I wonder if it's the wheel base or the throttle response. But in order to go sideways in the Tacoma in 2wd it takes a conscious amount of throttle. While the mustang flys around with no predicatability.

Side roads here are a little slick but not bad. Mass like between Framingham and Hopkinton was just wet.

Took the wife's truck today so I could take it to get a sticker and still impressed with the Cooper's in the snow.

I would guess tires have a lot to do with how tail happy the Mustang is also. Big ole fat tires, no weight, lots of power and rear drive.

Some jackwagon on the Pike in a mustang was doing like 35mph with his flashers on in the right lane. I'm surprised a big rig didn't smoke him going so slow.

That's one of the things that goes right up my ass. The flashers being used while driving. IMO they are called emergency flashers for a reason (emergency) but I can relate to the mustang being a terrible snow vehicle. But you better have a damn good excuse to why you are driving with your hazards on. 90% of the time when people have their flashers on they should not be driving.

There was these two idiots in a single cab ford ranger with a king sized mattress stuffed in the back a single peice of line holding it in the middle. Mind you the mattress is so large it's over the top of the cab and it's Fluttering like a butterfly, accident waiting to happen. They have their flashers in going 40 in a 65. So I stop them and ask where they are going (New Bedford 50 mins away) then I ask why Do they think I stopped them? (Uhhh idk) and then why they have their flashers on? Kid goes uhh because this mattress looks it may fall out, but I have my flashers on.

So let me get this straight? Because your flashers are on you can drive around with a poorly secured object that will certainly come loose and take up 2 lanes at a minimum? Not only that but you passed 2 hardware stores that sell rope and straps. are you an asshole or an idiot? He chose idiot for the record.

Might also have a lot to do with the rear end. My WS6 with all season tires and limited slip did pretty good in snow. My under powered v6 camaro with snow tires and open diff was prone to instant 180s.

More snow in Littleton than in Somerville. No issues getting home, but my landlord didn't clear the lot, so I couldn't see the lines. Most people pull in right next to someone, so they didn't mind. I park at the far end of the lot, second to last spot since the last one is 3/4ths of a spot. Well this time I couldn't see so I just parked in both spots. Not a problem, since no one uses that narrow spot, but I'm a candidate for the Asshole Parking thread haha
