Anybody have an objection to getting Cooper ST Maxx 265/75-16s on my dd Taco?

 

Cam's @Darth_Yota got them iirc, and @Unchained 5150.

Don't see any issue. They're heavy as shit but otherwise supposedly ride nice

 

I haven't heard any negative reviews on them. Why not consider 255/85-16 since you have the lift?

Sexy besides the 20" wheels. Can't stand big wheels/ low profile tires on trucks

Im rocking 20s on my tundra right now. I still have 275/55s on them. I went with the Hankook Dynapro and they only rub slightly against the front wind deflector thing when i turn in reverse.

 

I just think more rubber looks better, plus 20" tires are stupid expensive.

 

Don't want to deal with gearing, plus I have my trailer on the way so less money for the possible regearing

If you didn't tow I don't think it would be an issue. Some people say that the 255/85s make a bigger gearing reduction on the AT than on the MT.

 

MT has lower gearing from the factory iirc

 

Yea if I could keep the wife to the tenting life I would have done the 255/85. But I think there may be a second truck in the running for me at some point in the future.

Is that the stock size? If so, I'm surprised that you have rubbing issues. That's the size I have on my F150 now.

It's not as bad as it used to be since so many vehicles are running 20's from the factory. It used to be a huge jump to get truck tires for 20's but they're not that much more than 17's now. I don't even know if any new full size trucks are even running 16's anymore, I think they've all jumped to 17's as the base.

 

Only issue with that is how Toyota does their tire pressure sensors. It's absolutely stupid that the system can't relearn sensors without a trip to the dealership.

Same here, when I got the set of wheels with winter tires.

 

I don't have sensors in my off road wheels. I just let the light stay on. I've heard of guys snapping off the TPMS valves on rocks because they are metal. Rubber valves have a better chance to survive rock rash, since they have some flex.
