In some ways I wish it was cause then I wouldn't have had to see the lack of defense played by the Kentucky guys. Oh well. Guess you get what you pay for.

No complaints here! The weather outside isn't great, but at least it isn't snow!

 

Mornin' all - hopefully it'll dry up later this week - aiming to do the ECGS Bushing finally.

Yep it has 4 pads on each leaf pack on the 2 main leafs. Is this a new design?

No the "new" design has pads between all the leafs. I guess they are just coming out now

 

Bummer... Is it hard to pull these leaf packs apart? I wonder if I can do it in my basement or if I need clamps etc and air tools.

 

Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm guessing the pulling it apart is easy, making the holes and adding the pads, maybe not.

 

I wonder how much of a bitch that stuff is to drill through...

 

You're not wrong, really. Pulling them apart is just a matter of clamping them, undoing the bolts that hold them in place, and releasing the clamp. Drilling them would be annoying because they're spring steel, so you'll need a good set of bits, some cutting oil, and a steady hand (or a drill press). And then obviously you'd have to clamp them again and bolt everything back together. So not difficult, per se, if you know what you're doing and you've got the right tools. Just time-consuming.

 

That's exactly what I was thinking. I was considering having pads added, just taking it to a local spring builder to do for me. I'm guessing it can't cost that much.

 

Probably depends on his labor rate, lol.

 

I tell people this all the time. Take the pack apart and have a spring shop punch holes the holes into the springs for you. I had mine done by Ballard Spring in Worcester MA for about $4 each hole and that included the anti squeak pads. If you call them ask for Mike and tell them Rob from LKQ sent you

 

That's where I was headed. I'll do just that when I call them.

 

Call them, ask for Mike, and tell them to put on Rob's tab with LKQ. That's what I heard.
