Damn son you willing to part ways with any of the boxes? Could use a top box in my garage..

They tend to loosen up over time if used a bunch. I have a matco one with interchangeable dies for different gauge wire works great bit I over paid for it.

That Machinists Handbook is a goldmine of information. I went through the drafting program in my local Voc/Tech high school and we used that thing as much, if not more than the machinists themselves. I think I still have a couple of copies around somewhere. Just out of curiosity, what edition is that one?

Depends. I've gotta go through all my tools first. Still in the process of unpacking and decluttering from my move.

    They're all in great shape.

Just moved to NH from Long Island. Long story..

STi is fucking fantastic. I love every inch of that car!

Oil consumption bulletins are a thing. That's what happens when your tolerances (+/-) for your machine work have a little too much potential play. If your cylinder bore runs on the high side of the tolerance, and the piston diameter runs on the small side of the tolerance, by the spec sheet, they are ok. In reality, it opens the potential to consume oil. We have done a few replacements here and there. At least Subaru owned up to it. I personally would have kept the XV, especially with a new short block. As long as you don't have the sewing machine tap from the driver's side cam and lifters, you should be ok. Even the tapping noise had a bulletin with revised parts.

I'm partial to Subaru. They've really earned my trust. My FJ is fantastic as well, so was my 4Runner, but my mom's 16 4Runner is a shitbox with a whole bunch of trans and rear diff issues...

    Long Island jeez,

It was a great car besides it burning oil even after the block replacement and new rings. I would get the low oil light 2200 miles into the oil change. I drove the car from Home to grad school daily 1000 miles a week. 2014 with 131k miles bought it with 18 miles, a few wheel bearings and some blower motor issues that were all easily fixed. Great car but I needed a truck to haul the bike around, and missed the hell out of my Tacoma. They definitely stepped up their game with the quality of their products. The RH side cylinder head was slightly noisy but i'm using that term lightly, as never a concern too me. I have some brand new snowies in 17's if you are ever in the need for any.

The shop that did the work probably didn't do the replacement right, or additional parts were needed.

STi has 18's, and it's gonna live in the garage from October-April. No need for snows, but thanks.

Pickups have their uses, as does my FJ, but I kind of love having a sedan... I loved my 2000 Impreza Outback Sport too. That was fun!

As for the oil consumption blocks, I have one that is really clean and not corroded. I'm gonna turn it into a coffee table. Scavenged the pistons and connecting rods from a second block to use as the feet of the table.

Agreed as others have said the same thing. The oil analysis after the replacement was out of the spec and not in the mileage it was using less than before. I just added when the light came on up until i got rid of it never a issue.

I dont blame you with the STi subarus are a blast in the snow but f the salt up north!
