120k is pretty young for tacos. Even 150k-200k is not a big deal so long as you keep up with maintenance

 

I'd say if you're on the fence about when to unload, I'd do it before 150. It's a lot harder to move a car with 150+

 

Shit, I got 125k on mine and haven't even changed the front brake pads.

 

I haven't had to do much to it. Only non-routine things have been one axle seal up front, both front calipers, an idler pulley, sway bar links and bushings, and I just ordered tie rod ends because I have one with a tiny bit of play.

I also have a bizarre noise from under the truck on bumpy roads that sounds like a person jumping on a pogo stick inside a giant steel drum. Haven't figured that one out yet--nothing under the truck makes any noise like that when I crawl under and try to find it.

 

That's what I was thinking. I'd be somewhere between 140 and 150 in the spring.

I figure value gets pretty bad after that given almost every other 2011 Tacoma out there is going to have fewer miles than mine.

Granted, I think mine is fairly desirable given color, and that it's a DCLB TRD Sport.

 

There's just a stigma after 150k. Might as well tell people it has 200k. So the value usually drops

 

Not that our trucks really take that much of a dive

 

Somehow it's still worth almost $20k private party even being 6 years old with 120k on it. It's pretty amazing.

 

Yeah I was looking up my truck the other day. Ones with more miles than mine were listed for 1k more than I paid when it was new

 

I paid just under $25k for mine three years ago with ~50k on it. I have over double the miles and it's three years older and somehow value has only dropped by $5k.

 

The dealership gave me over $17k for mine at 7 years old with just over 100k miles on the clock. Mine was just an SR5 crew cab, short bed.

I was guessing trade on mine would be $14-$15 right now, but maybe I'd see more like $17-$18 too.

Come to think of it, I think my boss got $14k for his 2006 with 100k on it a year ago, and he had three kids so it had a ton of dents and scratches in it and the interior wasn't so nice anymore.

 

When I was looking to buy a Taco, I looked at used ones first. Expensive as hell even with a ton of miles. For what I was seeing, I figured I'd just spend a few bucks more and just buy a brand new one, which is what I did.

 

That's why I bought new too. Only a couple grand less to get one with 50k. Rather hey new and get exactly what I wanted

 

Exactly! And, what made it even better in my case was that the wife was on board with it. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Who would have thunk it.

 

Paid about 27-28k for mine new. After haggling and rebates and college rebate it became cheaper than the subaru i was thinking about so it was a no brainer. Trade is still 26-27 last i checked.

 

Sounds like wives can be a drag sometimes haha

 

Only when they don't let us do fun things.
