One of these days we will have the coop ready for the chicks. We got a coat of paint on the coop and everything else primed.

Still need to get the roof on, install a ramp, hang the access door, paint a second coat, and hang the chicken wire. I think that'll do it.





I've also been trying to clean up these old pickup wheels. Holy shit what a pain in the dick!!!

I tried aircraft stripper. That didn't work that well. Maybe it was just the advanced auto brand that sucks. I've also be using a wire brush on a drill, but getting into the crevices is a bitch. Sorry for all the foul language.

 

One of the new owners of the box we go to is the manager at cfne(soon to be full time manager at new box) and the other new owner was a former coach there/ games team member.

 

Love those wheels. They look great on a first gen. You going to just clean them up, or PC them?

 

I scored them for $50 and wanted to keep everything cheap. Plan was to clean them up and rattle can them. I'm worried they're not going to clean up well and I'll have to dip them.

Agreed. Theyre sexy wheels. When I got my truck a few years ago I wanted them. I kept looking around and found others I liked, but when I saw these pop up I had to scoop them up. I wish I had a buddy w a sandblaster

 

My 4Runner had those wheels when I bought it. I tried like hell to clean them up. I couldn't get them clean so I sold them and bought some steel wheels.

 

Does that mean you're going to be getting rid of the splitter?

Possibly. Not sure yet as I have the mother of all white oaks in the front yard. When I have it trimmed, I split that to burn. You need a 25' tape to measure the circumference...

 

I dipped a set of wheels and found it difficult to keep them clean over time. The brown brake dust started building up on the black dip and it was hard to keep clean on wheels with a lot of crevices. I also did not clear coat the dip so maybe that would have helped.

Mine passed Title V when I bought the house, so I'm hoping it doesn't give me problems. Surprising, given I think the system is original and the design of most of the older systems doesn't meet code here.

Wish I had a drilled well, though. I have an awful lot of sediment and iron in my water, and I don't think it would be as bad if it were pulling from 300 ft instead of 20 ft.
