The fluid film I sprayed on didn't last very long... I'll definitely pay someone to do it this year however I'm going to Mavcoat the suspension before I fluid film it. Can't hurt to have the added protection.

 

@BadDNA - Thanks to Pugga's amazing search abilities , I see you had mentioned you were an Amsoil dealer... I'll PM you with info on getting HD Metal protector.

 

Actually it could hurt. The two may turn to a liquid that just drips off when combined.

 

Might have some showers tomorrow, but I had a ton of caterpillar shit all over it and had enough of looking at it on my hood.

I also might be on my way back from VT before the rain starts tomorrow. My start time is at 1 but I'm gonna show up around 715 and hope I can fit into either the 8 or 830 start wave.

 

I use cosmoline to touch up areas after washing the truck

 

I knew I butchered the spelling to Hell... But our 6 new Makinos at work were covered in it internally for shipping

 

1 coat of fluid film lasts 2 to 3 months based on a rotor in the elements rest. You'll need multiple coats for it to soak in completely/enough

 

My best friend is an Amsoil dealer here in NH if you can't find anyone closer to you. Let me know.

Maybe it doesn't last as long when you spray it...because when I painted / smeared it on my truck it stayed FOREVER. I could get it to drip out of the box sections on 90 degree days. I also put about a gallon on my frame yearly. I should go check my new truck and see how it looks.

EDIT:

The flat surfaces parallel to the ground still have a bit of a film, but that's where it's come off the most. The horizontal and areas not directly exposed to the spray are still completely filmy.

I'm going to baste it again this fall and see what happens.

Did you use spray cans or buy a gallon and spray it on with a compressor?

I buy a gallon every fall and use my dad's compressor and the fluid film gun kit.. goes on thick and lasts all year except for the wheel well areas that get sprayed from the tires. I sprayed the front skid plate with a can I had, didn't go on thick enough and didn't last.

 

I've got the spray kit too with the upgraded spray gun and absolutely love it.

Well worth the investment. I've got a cheap HF compressor that will run that and an impact so I'm happy as can be on that front.

 

Spray cans... I don't have access to a compressor.. Well I do but i can't be spraying fluid film there.

 

Nah, Cupcake's birthday isn't for another 3 weeks..
