I've never had good luck with Rain-X stuff. Always seems to leave this greasy streak across the glass and cant see shit out at night with headlights and when the sun hits it.

I like using the Prestone stuff they have a good bug wash and ice wash for the winter

X2. I've tried Rain-X over the years (since the 80's) and never had good luck being able to see at night with this stuff on the windshield.

Me too. Messes with the wipers in my experience and makes them streak or chatter.

I also use the orange Prestone fluid and like it.

I've had that happen to me also. It's all in the application. You really have to rub the shit in extremely well otherwise it will do what you describe. I usually go over it with a dry cloth at the end and I haven't had any issues recently.

After you apply it you're supposed to let it dry to a haze then buff it off with a towel. I find using a wet towel helps buff it off better.

I've always used a spray bottle to mist the glass and then buffed it with a piece of newspaper. Always works for me.

The idea of it is awesome and I think its more of for light mist versus full monsoon. But I just windex and scrub it, and use the Bosch Ion wiper blades.
I did see a video of a guy using turtle wax. I'll try to link it

    EDIT: Found it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4TBR7TRGJc

My problems with Rain X direct out of the bottle are even when you get it nice and clear when you are using your wipers especially at night you get this hazy streak that follows the wipers. Also the chatter can be annoying too. I like it in the washer fluid but even then I dilute it 50/50 with blue washer fluid. Anyone that has seen under my hood usually asks me about it because the fluid is brown with the mix of orange Rain X and the regular blue stuff

I'm hoping Sunday's forecast doesn't change much. A little cooler would be nice, but I'm going to try to get a few final electrical wiring projects installed. I've got an illuminated ignition ring, and Hilux 4wd switch to install and reconnect the heater wires to my new ProEFX mirrors. I think I've read the instructions for the ignition ring correctly, I'm trying to wire it in so that it lights up with the dome light and the dash lights.

Yup. I put the other half in the wifeys car so it works out plus it's just that little bit cheaper

I don't think those are his pictures. I think he just copied and pasted from somewhere else showing what projects he plans on doing

Makes it a lot easier to scrape the windshield during the winter. The ice doesn't sheen up; it beads. And then it pops right off when you scrape it. Bird poo and bug goo wash off easier too.

Yeah, you have to buff it pretty well to keep it from being streaky. Pugga's newspaper trick works well. What I do is buff it with a cotton cloth and then turn the windshield wipers on and spray it down with the hose for a minute or so. That takes care of the streaks for me. :notsure:
