Home inspection tomorrow

 

Hope you got some sleep last night Nuno.

 

Sure did. Little man slept the entire night, in his bed! Had a cough "attack" for just a little bit at around 3 or so, but didn't wake up. And woke up in a good mood today, so that's always a good thing!

We had the field trip yesterday, but it was surprisingly dry actually. It poured the day and night before, but it was ok.

 

Ah, gotcha. Probably better than today with it raining overnight too. Sure did need this rain.

My internal calendar is so effed this week. I keep thinking its a completely different day

 

My first house they caught nothing. Thought the breaker panel was fine. I went through a breaker a month later, thought it was weird. When I replaced it, I noticed water had been getting in for ages and that was the reason. Ended up replacing the whole panel, new service entry wire, new meter box. They also didn't notice a lot of furnace things. I know very little about heating, so I didn't either, but my oil guy said there was no excuse for them not noticing a lot of it, like the lack of fireproof sheetrock and the fact that the flue pipe went downhill to the chimney.

Second house a different guy did it and he was very conscientious. Only things he's been wrong about so far is that he thought the boiler needed a firebox and it turns out it doesn't even use one--but my oil guy had to research it to make sure of that himself, so I can't fault him on that. And he thought the attic insulation was all fiberglass, but I've found some vermiculite. No big deal because there is tons of insulation up there and I don't plan on tearing out walls or anything, so I won't have a situation where I need to have it removed.

 

My Friday's not til Monday.

 

Same here, then it's a 4 day adventure, with no kids.

 

My dad serviced oil burners for 20 years and is a licensed general contractor so we went through pretty much everything but the bank requires a licensed home inspector. Shouldn’t really be much of an issue

 

I hear that. And with me taking off yesterday, it makes it even worse. I was super productive after the field trip though. Cleaned my leafs and cut my grass too, since I hadn't done either in a couple of weeks.

On the contrary, I grew up with Subaru's. Dad had a Brat for a while, mom had a Loyale wagon for years, then a whole string of Legacy's and Outbacks (her current car is an Outback).

But I'm a very particular car shopper. I generally go into a dealership knowing what I want, and hate the typical salesman tactic where they immediately try to steer you towards something else.
