Some of the hill towns here don't. They just have some packed snow on the roads year round, and they sand when necessary.

My current town uses salt and it's a little irritating. We're 1700 people up next to the VT border, I'm sure we're capable of driving on some snow. There are also a few street lights scattered around on almost every road and I don't understand that either.

Honestly, the pads themselves have plenty of life still on them. The rust isn't good and I'd replace the caliper and rotor instead of messing with getting that one free.

It's called zinc fume fever. Makes you very sick.

More like professional guidance. I want to paint the whole headlight except the turn signal and side marker buckets to match the truck and since it's going to be under the lens, I want a nice flawless finish. I have the lights that I need to swap onto my truck so I can work with mine and we can set something up after I make some time and get that done. I picked up some supplies from automotivetouchup.com (adhesion promoter, sandable primer, base coat, acrylic clear) so I should have everything needed to do it but my problem is always either too little paint per coat and I end up with orange peel, or too much and I end up with runs. The best supplies and all the prep work in the world is worthless if I can't put the paint on well.

Most of the state decides what treatment to use on roadways depending on the storms forecast and potential for freeze/thaw cycles. Towns are more and more adopting minimized salting areas due drinking water well contamination and environmentally sensitive areas. Knowing what I know about this state, most people would love to use less salt during the winter, yet will bitch and moan all day long if roads were slippery because sand couldn't cut it.

I remember Worcester did not keep up with a snow storm last year and the public backlash and amount of accidents were insane.

The DOT is damned if they do, and damned if they dont.

I just need to get to maybe march...a little warmer out...I have tons of time off around christmas but the long term forecast is 20 degrees so I shant be working on brakes in that weather...

Do the factory brakes have the idiot noise to indicate wear?

I think I just want to do the calipers too at that point and put a little rust protection on them...some rustoleum high temp or something.

One or a set? It's not like I'm rocking fancy rims, I've got the factory steelies so a little cosmetic paint would just help protect it :)

Are you trying to use single stage paint? (Paint and clear in one?) We used 2in1 primer or high build if needed, sherwin Williams paint and reducer, sherwin Williams clear, clear reducer, and hardener. Napa also has everything available (sometimes you have to order it but i can get paint same day) and Napa uses the same stuff as Sherwin Williams

Ok my Hydraulic floor jack .. .. seams to be soo tired ...
Do you replace all of the fluid or just top it off ?
Is there a best fluid to use ?
    Any hints ?
My jack will start to raise ( say the corner of a shed) but will go so far ... like me not enough strength to dooo it.

Route 8 goes through my town which is state maintained. That's always salted, which I expect. Doesn't seem like MassDOT messes with sand on anything they maintain. I was surprised that the town salted my road since it's next to a river. It eventually turns and crosses over it on both ends where it connects back to 8 as well. I'm sure salt washes right off the road into the river in several places.

Last storm it was unbelievable how many people couldn't make it up hills and were struggling on an inch or two of snow. I live in rural New England and have a 4x4 truck with snow tires. Seems like other people don't equip their vehicles properly or even choose them wisely to begin with.

Is it leaking? Sounds more like an issue with seals than fluid level. If your fluid level is too low to raise the cylinder, it's been lost somewhere over the years. Putting new fluid in is just a band aid. You need to stop the leak so it can hold pressure.
