That's the truth! I've been reading about the new 6.7 Cummins and a common mod is to remove some of the insulation in the intake. It seems to let you hear just a little more of that turbo sound and a little more of the exhaust brake. I'm a fan of both of those sounds in moderation so I'd go that route if I end up with that engine.

One of my neighbors at the old house had a Duramax with the standard exhaust deletes, running 5" a straight pipe from the headers back. The A-hole worked 3rd shift and at 11:30 every night would fire his truck up and let it idle for 20 minutes before he left the house. Spring, Summer, Winter, didn't matter. Neighbors all hated him. His truck developed transmission problems and I always wondered if one of the neighbors had poured some friction modifier into it or something since it's sort of unusual for an Allison to go bad.

I didn't have the lift but did run a 5" straight pipe in my 96 Cummins. In reality, it wasn't that loud in the truck with the windows rolled up. There was quite a bit of sound deadening for that year vehicle. Also unless your pulling at max weight, you don't continuously 'roll the coal'. It actually cleared up faster with a trailer tugging on it rather than empty.

Some of the people around here are running so much extra fuel pressure that they roll even when they're just accelerating normally around town, so pulling a trailer they'd certainly have their foot in it enough to roll coal even at normal road speeds.

Always used to annoy me when I was riding through town on the bike because they'd try to smoke you out on purpose if they pulled up next to you at a traffic light.

Sounds about right. Only time my buddy would do it was next to a prius, but his 6.5 didn't put out a lot of coal

The smoke is from lower boost to amount of fuel. It tends to clear up on most road driven over fueled trucks. That’s why towing makes it harder to black out the sun versus empty.

I’m sorry to those that were behind me when I had the Cummins. Although I’m not sorry for the blots of smoke to the demonstrators of the gulf war on the Litchfield green...

Yes, I admit I was an ass

Yea...as a motorcyclist (that hates these guys for making us all look bad and for being reckless) that makes me angry. Your father is literally putting someones life at risk just because he's annoyed/being delayed/whatever. Granted they were already putting themselves at risk but no need to make it worse. I feel the same way about cars that run bicyclists off the road/don't give them any space.

Ehh, stupid people stupid outcomes. everybody obeys the laws then there's no issue. Was my dad right no, but by all means if your an ass hole then you should expect an ass hole back lol The bikers came from behind us then slowed down. My dad was cruising at 75-80 then ended up at like 45-50. I would be angry too lol

I have had my motorcycle license since I was 16-17 and those assholes are not bikers. They are the same as the assholes that block roads and highways. They want to endanger others on the road then fuck em

Oops. I didn't mean to start quite the discussion.

My original post focused more on trucks than cars (like Jeep Cherokees with Cherry Bombs) but it does apply to cars as well. Admittedly every car I've had I swapped exhaust on, but I was never loud for the sake of loud. I also spent money on systems that weren't raspy or droned a ton. I can't stand the sound most four cylinders make with those stupid tiny mufflers on crushbent stock sizing piping.

The 3.5 has a terrible engine noise and I wouldn't want it any louder than it already is.

People with threshold of pain Harley's should be banned from riding but that's a separate story. I've talked on here at length about that before.

Fair enough, I get being angry. It makes me angry and I wasn't even in the area when it went down. I'm just super sensitive to that stuff as I've had a few buddies get seriously hurt by some drivers with road rage. Slightly venting, carry on with BS and Tacoma stuff
