My wife is hoping that as it gets closer to the end of the school year, since they have to be in until the end of June, that it gets super hot so they can be let out early just about everyday. Her school is a very old building, with no AC, so the kids can't be in there if it gets too hot. I forgot what the temp threshold was though...

Yeah, my office has no central air so we all have window units and they aren't installed yet so by 2pm I am one cranky, overheated fat dude

It was 79F in my office yesterday at quitting time.

Yeah, it's the commercial grade and cheap it's not. I've had great luck with Stihl products. My chain saw and BR600 backpack blower are Stihl. Never had any problems. The weedwacker that I used to have was a POS Home Depot Ryobi gas unit I bought ages ago. However, I probably only used it 2-3 dozen times. It was always a royal bitch to start. It went in the junk pile. Actually, I used to have a Toro hand held gas blower and a backpack. Both were crap. Ran fine for a few years and then the backpack got an attitude. It would run great until you put it on and then would die. I hated that thing. Put it on the curb with a free sign. No problem buying quality grade tools if the need is there. At the same time, I'll buy HF crap if it warrants the need.

Since I know you were all on the edge of your seats and wracking your brains trying to solve my camper electrical issue, I finally got it resolved. Turns out my 30amp shore power cable had a bad neutral connection, which allowed the 120V to hit the main breaker, but kept it from completing the circuit. Bought a new terminal end and hooked up, and all is right in the world again.

Gotcha. When I cut grass with my buddy we used the same backpack blower that you have. Loved that thing. Super powerful. I bought myself a commercial grade Shindaiwa (not sure if that's the right spelling or not) blower because supposedly it was a bit more powerful, because I have a ton of trees. Definitely does the job well. I also have a commercial grade weedwacker, a Stihl FS90R. Love it!

EDIT: For my mower, I have a commercial LESCO 48" walk behind, which I think is or was owned by John Deer. Bought it off of my buddy when we were cutting grass because he upgraded to a 52" Exmark walk behind with ergo controls.

Glad you were able to fix it. I would have volunteered suggestions, but I've never owned a camper so I don't know anything about their internal workings

When I bought this house, I just had a self propelled pushmower because the lawn tractor I had was on its last legs and I figured I just wouldn't bother with it. Didn't think the yard was big enough for me to care--I have about a 1/2 acre of lawn.

I did the whole thing once with the pushmower and realized it took probably four times as long as it would with the lawn tractor, so I acquired another one. A friend with a side landscaping business had an 8-year-old 46" hydrostatic Craftsman that a client gave him with a blown motor. He bought a new Briggs Vanguard for it, then it sat for years because it really isn't heavy duty enough for the amount he cuts. Sold it to me for $200, which is less than what the motor would have cost him. I put new belts on it, pulled the deck off and repainted it, replaced the transmission oil, and it's great now.

I actually want to find a cheap snowblower attachment for it. Usually they're not great on a small lawn tractor, but my driveway is almost totally flat and concrete. Plus, it already has wheel weights. I figure if I had chains and the snowblower, I could clear the driveway in about 2 minutes.

But I need to find one cheap enough to justify it since I have a good working 24" Ariens that is already probably overkill for the driveway.

    Or a 4x4 ATV with a plow...but that's tougher to justify.

Well if you're handy with a grinder and a welder you can find one for another lawn tractor and just fab up a set of brackets to make it work on yours. :notsure:

I have a plow and frame off of a crapsman tractor sitting in my backyard. I was going to use the blade to make the plow on my ATV a little wider but may not get to it.

I have been very hesitant about battery operated ones. How is the power and how long do you get on a charge?

Ehh, mix it with some stabilizer and it isn't that bad. But I agree, if you are just doing one yard, the battery is probably much easier and simpler to deal with.

I just bought a Kombi gas powered multi system thing or whatever. Got the yard sweeper attachment to start but will be adding a pole trimmer. After paying some landscaping bills to my brothers company I quickly learned if I buy my own equipment and don't mind sweating a bit, I can save a lot of money over a couple of years time. Just the driveway sweep attachment will pay for the whole thing (about $700) in two or three years. I have a commercial property tho, and also take care of my parents land a bit, so I use my stuff more than a regular home owner.
Ohhh the corded power equipment. Never for the life of me have understood that, I mean I do understand why you would buy one, but all I can remember about our corded hedge trimmer growing up was tangled lines and cords cut accidentally. I am sure you are better at wielding your tools and storing your cords than I was at 12 years old though
Insane, I am really bad at heat and would have had to go home. Not even really fat at all, just not good at heat.

I have all stihl gear for my blowers, trimmers and brushcutters. Need to get a chainsaw at some point but so many family members and friends have them I haven't found a need. You get what you pay for a lot of times, and I've never had any issues with my stuff starting right up on the first pull or two over the last 3 years. I did have my blower handle that controls the power and moves the blowing tube around fall off last week though. Need to find the right bolt and get that attached again, but it is about 5 years old and in great shape still.

You ever ride one of these yourself? How do they handle a hill?

I use my weedwhacker MAYBE twice a year, and not for very long. The last tank of fuel I put in it lasted me two years, lol. Even stabilized, it goes bad after that long.

And no, I've never owned a riding lawnmower. Especially not one with a $1500 gang reel setup on the back, haha!

I go through a tank of gas every week in my weed whacker, probably like 30-40 minutes of use, and maybe 10 of that is walking around from point to point. I have a tank in my brush cutter that needs to get dumped because it's about a year or more old. Hopefully dumping it and putting new gas in will start it right back up, sorta putting it off...which isn't helping the situation :anonymous:

I have a nice scag mower, but I have a friend who pulls along a smaller set up like that gang-reel with his ranger. Does a nice job cutting their lawn/field and I have been thinking, why can't I sell my scag, get a gang-reel for my ranger and pocket the difference? Just not sure how it would do on some tight/hilly spots I have to do.
