Morning all. Freaking crazy at work this AM. Annoying.

On the other hand, I bought a new toy yesterday :D

I'd been toying with getting a larger, newer saw for a while now. The Husky 51 that I've been using is a great all-around saw but is a little low on power for cutting the big rounds. And it managed to vibrate out the bar tension screw on Saturday, and a replacement might take two weeks to get here. Since I can't wait two weeks to keep working on firewood, I finally bit the bullet and bought this yesterday. And it's a cutting machine! It made short work of the 8-9 trunks I had lined up to cut, and blitzed through the big pines that I'd dropped in the lower lot a couple of weekends ago in no time flat

I have the 460 Rancher that I purchased from @HolyHandGrenade a while back, and I love it! Came in super handy when we got hit by the storm.

Has anyone here ever dealt with oil bath hubs on a trailer? One of the hubs on my boat trailer seems to have spit some oil, but the level still seems good in the window. I've never had oil bath hubs before so this is new to me.

I thought about the 460, but it's more saw than I need. I prefer all-around saws to having one of each for big wood or limbing. This thing chews through the thick stuff with no problems but is still light enough to limb with comfortably. The 460 is just heavy enough that limbing with it would really suck after a while. And since I'm usually cutting for a few hours straight...

Makes perfect sense. And yeah, the 460 is heavy A.F.

I have a Stihl 026 that is probably almost as old as I am. It was my father's and he didn't know how to use a chainsaw. He'd complain about how quickly the chain would go dull after I'd watch him put the bar right into the dirt cutting a log on the ground. He also complained it never ran right.

I don't use it much, but when I do it runs great for me, starts right away even if it sits for half a year. Plenty of power. I really like the teeth on it, they're like what that Husky has. I never realized how great they were until I used a saw without them.

Yeah, dirt is definitely not a chainsaw's friend.
My 51 is basically the older version of that saw. It's a great little rig and still works great after 25+ years and literally hundreds of cords of wood, but it's never been a 'big wood' saw. This will be handy to have, even if it's only slightly larger

Only about 1/2lb heavier than the 455 (I weighed them both at the store  ), but you notice every ounce when you're running it for a few hours.

I have the 455 rancher as well. It can get a bit heavy after a while, and sometimes using it to de-limb awkward. But thing cuts great and we have def worked the hell out of it.
We had an issue with it bogging down a lot in the heavier wood so we put a skip tooth chain on it, helps a lot.

One thing I have noticed between the Husqvarna and the Stihl is that the Husqvarna is more of a muscle car (heavy, lots of low grunt, and kind of takes its time going through stuff) were as the Stihl is more of the ricer (high revs, all of the power is way up high, lighter, and will fly through limbs).

I looked at Stihl's 291 and was tempted, but I've had nothing but amazing service from my Husky (nothing but chains & bars with occasional spark plug or air filter in the last 20 years since I got it) so I had no reason to jump to a new brand.

I run 265/75/16 BFGoodrich KO2s all year round. In the winter I through ~200lbs in the bed right over the axle and I've never had an issue. Ice will still get ya, but I can drive through 14" of snow in 4H with no problem. I'm probably on the low end for weight in the bed, but oh well.

Seconded. I'm toying with the idea of buying a manual wrangle 4-door as a DD, keep the miles low on the truck.

Either that or a bigger truck that could tow my truck... #trailtoy

Post-Vacation Mondays suck. Oh well. Old Orchard Beach is a cool little area, but we spent our beach days at Pine Point in Scarborough. Way less crowded as far as I could tell.

Stinks I couldn't make it to the meet up @BigMacMcCoy glad everyone had a good time though!

For those of you that have done Spartans, would you recommend using a camelbak for a Super? I didn't have one when I've done tough mudders in the past, but am considering it for the Super next month. Dick's is having 20% off today so I'm basically looking to spend money haha.

I got 18's on my JKU and now I get 20 mpg on this one. It would be better in a sport or sahara due to the 410 on the rubi

    Except door count

Although, really, a Wrangler should be a 2 door...
