Yeah, I think I've had that happen once in the 10+ years that I've been wearing them.

Removing a step from the "getting on a motorcycle" process is something I haven't even thought about!

Yup, and 3k burpees, and 30,000 feet of rope climbs and sled pulls. One of the chicks in my wife's little gossip squad at the gym has attempted it twice. The stuff is insane which makes it more appealing.

She said they had to swim across a lake while holding a candle above the water and not let it go out. Ruck a mile barefoot at night etc...

My best friend is actually getting LASIK today.

I’d love to do it but I can’t justify the cost right now. I don’t know if I’m stable enough for it but my glasses I keep at work are like 6 years old and seem fine to me.

I can’t bring myself to intentionally jam stuff in my eyes, even if it would make everything else easier.

You're going to like the Killington beast. The gently sloping hills, warm enjoyable lake swim, relaxing death march.....

Seriously though it's a good time. Can't ask for a more beautiful location to do a race. It'll legitimately be ove of the coolest things you'll do. Or you won't finish and live forever in shame

I did the Beast there back in 2012... it wasn't one bit fun at all. I ended up with a pulled groin, and rolled both ankles so bad they were black and blue for a week. It is better if you have a buddy or someone running with you. I will say for the Beast don't do any of the funny outfits or be a motivator with a rucksack. Saw a lot of ppl lost their "fairy" wings about half way on the course and hate seeing trash on the mountain.
Me and my buddy did it we carried about a gallon+ of water each and some power snacks, that I do recommend. Ran into an issue at a water fill station that they ran out.

All this adventure racing talks makes me want to start again and build up in distance. I topped out at a wimpy Bonefrog Challenge that was roughly 12-13 miles at Berkshire East haha

Bonefrog islegit. The competitive heat are cool cause you can't advance past an obstacle without completing it

Ya none of that funny shit for sure. I got beat up but it was fun. Same for the Ultra.

Definitely need a hydration pack and fuel or you'll legit have some medical issues unless you're superhuman.

I had 2 camelback packs and a couple bottles of water with me. We ran into some guys on the side of the hill that decided to run it shirtless without anything and one guy was in shock (temp dropped and actually snowed a bit).

You all who do these like @Sloth are crazy. I don't envy you guys, but I do respect it. Knowing your limits and pushing yourself to the edge is great...but I don't think you'll ever see me out there with you!:anonymous:

I did lasik my junior year in college, I was still on my parents health care and they had a cobra plan that would cover ANYTHING that you wanted done that your main health care wouldn't. So I had to pay out of pocket for the lasik, but then they refunded us the next week. Otherwise I don't know if I would have done it, definitely wouldn't have been able to afford it at that point in my life.

Anyways, its AWESOME. I had 20/10 eyesight for years, I think it has regressed a tiny bit, but I am still at least 20/20. Everything is so bright and crisp for about a month after and it's like a whole new world. Hopefully today they have some better tech than when they did mine, the recovery period of pain wasn't long, but you needed to protect your eyes for almost a year or else it could reopen where they cut for the lazer. Also, they told me they would give me some sort of relaxer pill before hand and they didn't. GET ONE. They cut my eye layer open and peeled it back and it should have been done in 15 seconds each eye, but since I was nervous and there was a lazer shooting at me I kept trying to look away:laser: :( This made my initial pain a lot worse than most people, and I had a realllly rough first day. A few friends parents and my father have done it since and everyone else had a smoother experience and regrets waiting so long.

    TLDR: Do it.

My father had it done and still needs readers. So I think maybe they can do that now? He got it done at least a few years ago.
