Driving in Australia. You come to a traffic circle (rotary) and first of all it's confusing as hell to go LEFT at a rotary, but everyone was super courteous and they all come to a stop to let each other go...

Today was a bit of a wasted day for me.

I did finally get to use my new shower, which was amazing, but the baby got sick again this morning, so the wife and I traded off watching her, which meant my goal of cleaning the Superfund site that is my house right now just hasn't happened.

My wife had a Nissan Roque before with 4wd, but even then, she probably has told me 10 times each the last two winters how the 4runner stopped her from crashing or slipping on an area. At first she thought the car was breaking with some of the noises it makes when getting traction/taking control, but once she learned that it's normal she fell in love. She is also someone who didn't give a f**** about cars before we met and I got her the 4 runner, but she will randomly tell me how much she loves it as we walk by it to take the dogs out.
Basically, what I am trying to say is that your wife will love it. And as a guy, I like driving it too and don't for 1 second feel "lame" driving the wifes car, if that's even a factor to consider.

I try to do this, everyonce and a while I'll misjudge someones speed pulling out of or onto a road and end up cutting it a little close. I throw my hands up in a "I'm sorry I was a dick, please forgive me" type of way and usually people seem surprised I'm not honking or swearing at them. It's funny how in todays world, owning your mistakes shocks people:alien:

Rented Mopeds in Bremuda this week, the first day out was rough. I drove straight at a truck on the wrong side of the road after pulling out of the grocery, truck driver did not care if he was going to run me over and I very narrowly avoided being splatted. My first rotary went okay, but after I almost got hit that first day I would pull over sometimes and just look at the traffic patterns and try to really understand my next moves  Luckily went much better after my first day.:bananadance:

Got my cousin coming by in a few hours, gonna replace tie-rods on his 4wheeler so he can be ready for some fall rides.:bikewhoops:

Oh and has anyone seen this thing?! Let me ask you, when you call the glass guy for a new rear windshield (I know they don't fail often) do you think he's gonna have one?

I could have sworn some beam had fallen on the back of the car and crushed it. Part of me think it looks really slick, but not a big enough part of me.

Went to one of the smaller beaches in town and played around with my new metal detector.
I'm a total noob, but besides a couple dozen bottle caps and pull tabs, I got a little bit of plunder.
Not enough to retire on, but not bad for my first time out...

Cool, I don't know how long I'll keep this house, so I'm trying to do stuff well enough so a home inspector doesn't flag any of my work as a problem if I go to sell it some day.

Been trying to correct the other issues I find, too.

Oddly, the house is 150A and has a huge panel with mostly 20 amp 12 gauge circuits, which I think was above and beyond for the 50s and the size of the house, but then you look closer and see he cut corners other ways with the wiring. My entire family room/office addition, added sometime in the 70s along with the garage, is run off a hot wire tapped onto a light switch (the input end so the switch doesn't actually impact it). I was blown away when I saw that. The panel is right next to the addition, why not just do it right and add a real circuit? :annoyed: Also a few of the 20 amp circuits are on 14 gauge so I need to swap those with 15s.

Had someone start to turn right on red while I was coming through an intersection the other day. I hit the horn and started to move left in case he didn't stop, and he waved acknowledging he was in the wrong. I was very surprised!

You know you've been driving manual too long when you park an automatic and it won't give the key back.

if you’re close to water and want to try it out a decent Hawaiian sling is only $40 or so! A good “entry” level gun will set ya back about $200. Cheap way to eat fresh seafood regularly though! And a great passive workout. 2 hours of swimming around and exploring passes fast.

    Monday funday then, eh?

I’ve always been interested in trying it out, the show detectorist is pretty funny. Follow a couple European channels who search for war pieces. Pretty cool what they find!

    What detetector did you get?

I have a Garrett Ace400. It's a mid-range machine that does almost as much as the high end machines.
Did my homework and watched a ton of videos. Decent machine and it didn't break the bank.
Got a package deal with a bunch of extras. It's something I wanted to do for years.
I follow a guy in Vt. called Green Mountain Metal Detecting. He posts a Youtube vid every Friday.
He hunts old cellar holes and walls and comes up with a lot of old colonial stuff.

My goal is to get some landowner permission locally as this area is full of walls and cellar holes.
But for now ,beaches will do. My town has 5 beaches alone.:notsure:

Night 3 of 3 of Phish Dicks, oh and yes fire as well. Maybe tonight I'll be sober enough, doubt it, to take a pic or two of the night time fun.
