Hey, we bounce back and forth between DEEP South Coastal Texas, and here.....

There are a few things we do pretty well.....

If I can ever get this place presentable.... maybe I'll look at tossing something together

Thinking about removing the overload leaf to level out the truck this weekend. Anyone have any input who has done it?

Anyone free to help me remove my bumper and install a winch this weekend? Possibly an ARB twin too if the parts come in...

Stock leaf springs are weak on a good day, I wouldn’t remove the overload if you ever plan to even have a husky friend ride along with you.

I should've specified that I'm running a HS 2" lift. HS coilovers upfront and HS 3 leaf AAL and Bilstein 5100s all around.

Just ordered the last thing i’ve been wanting for my truck, a permanent bed cover. I just bought a diamondback diamond plate cover. Found one in the outlet so it was ‘scratch and dent’ but marked down pretty far and still with the same warranty. We’ll see what it looks like when it shows up!

Oh, you should be good as long as you don’t really load the truck down. When I had the Icon 3 leaf AAL, they actually recommended leaving the overload out during install. I kept it because I tow and haul, but it would have been good without it I’m sure.

I ran the icon 3 leaf aal without the overload for a couple years. Never really hauled a heavy load with it. It rode really well, and flexed well off road, but there wasn't much lift after 2 years. Running full dakars with both over loads, and 700lb springs up front now.

The aal without overload should be fine if you don't haul much.

HS AAL, no overload, 2nd Gen TRD Pro Suspension kit with and without cap.

Icon AAL with TSB springs, no overload, Bilstein 5100 rear, Toytec / Eibach 620# Springs with Bilstein 5100 @ 0.85

The only thing I never figured out was mounting the brake lines without the overload. The 2G I simply cut off the mounts, the 3G I haven't done anything yet.

Thanks Tony! I've left this one more OEM plus than the last one. This one won't get the ARB, which is a shame but it's a bit much on the 3G. I'm picking up a TRD Pro skid plate tomorrow because I'm a poser.

There haven't been many aftermarket bumpers for the 3rd gen that catch my attention, maybe it's just the design of the front end that makes them look a bit too much. I love the slimline lower bumper plates - those are awesome.

I do as well. The Warn unit at $650ish was appealing, but they've since raised the price. The SSO unit is perfect but I've been reading some negative reviews of combining those with the Pro front suspension. My friend did the Warn / Smittybilt winch on his wife's T4R and it definitely sagged the truck enough that he put a set of 5100's on to boost it back up.

Maybe someday I'll get a bumper but it's not in the cards for me at the moment. I just want to throw on the Pro skid, get an LED bar in the lower bumper and start saving for a fun car. Admittedly my McFly side does like the Black Horse bed light car.

I agree with that; part of the reason I'm leaning towards doing one of those vs a full bumper.

Also if I wasn't heading down to PA I'd give you a hand

Appreciate the thoughts - I found a lift table off CL I'm picking up tomorrow. Hopefully that and a few tactically cut 2x4's will support the front bumper enough that I can remove it without needing the extra help. I used a lift table to put the sliders and skids on myself at my old shop so I'm hoping to do the same with this table. I'll take photos of the wizardry that happens.

    On another note:
Updated my build thread with a very wordy long and dry update. All technical stuff that I'm writing down just for my own records if I ever decide to redo or start doing side work on other trucks.
