No with the engine off. I just sucked it out and refilled it. I'll be doing it again in another week

The car search for my wife continues. Last night she said she was behind a Crosstrek and now wants to add that to the list. So I think the list is Crosstrek, Rav4, Cherokee, Tiguan currently.

My wife has a Crosstrek. It's a nice little car and we've had no issues with hers.

My mom just got a new CRV and I wasn’t a fan of her last one but this current model is pretty damn nice.

Yeah I think the CRV would be good for her, but she wrote it off for whatever reason. Once she writes off a car in her mind, there's no going back unless she gets back there herself

As Nuno, @Cativelense , would say, "WOMANS!"

I'd add the CX-5 as something to check out. I'd recommend against the Jeep, or at least get Maxcare with it if you plan to own it for any length of time. I loved our GC when we first bought it, but there's on and off little issues that have been driving me nuts. I'll eventually work through them, but I haven't been impressed. We had the previous generation CX-5 for about 8 months prior to stuffing it and I really liked driving it. It was flingable in a way I didn't expect from a CUV.

For what it's worth, the auto show in Boston is mid-January. I found that to be the best way to easily compare / contrast various vehicles and drill down to what made sense. That's what led us to the CX-5. I think prior to that we were likely going to buy the previous generation CR-V, but driving the CX-5 at the show really sold us on it.

I think our GC will be replaced by the new Passport in a few years.

I forgot the CX-5. That was on my list for her, but she wrote it off for whatever reason like the CRV. Then last week she asked me to add it back as a potential. The Auto show is a great idea, hadn't thought of that, thanks!

That's on the docket for us this weekend. I'm working Saturday but we're planning on making the excursion Sunday morning to find one.

Also, I don't know when they're doing it, but I did read somewhere that the CX-9's turbo motor is going into the CX-5.

My gripes with the new CX-5 are small. I don't like the trend towards smaller head and tail lights, and I don't like that the screen now looks like a tablet stuck on the dash, rather than the integrated screen on the earlier models.

The GF's parents have a CRV and I agree, it's a pretty nice little SUV. The Rav-4 that we rented in Utah was pretty sweet too, though. Even with the stock street slicks it was a tank in the snow out there, even the sloppy slushy lumpy stuff.

That's interesting. My wife had one as a rental when the Jeep was getting some work done and I was sliding all over the road in slush. Granted the one I had showed 30,000 on the odo, so who knows what the tire condition was.

There's always been something about the RAV I didn't like visually. I think it was in the 3/4 view with the C pillar hips. I know fundamentally it's not a bad car, but I equate it to the nice girl in high school that you wanted to like but never felt anything for. She was attractive, nice, smart, funny, but there just was nothing there. That's the RAV for me. Odd analogy, I know.

That's a very good analogy, actually. Not for the Rav4 but other things.

Was it the hips on the girl as well, or just the Rav?

Yeah, this one was brand-spanking-new; we got it with something like 1700 miles on the clock, so the Michelin's on it had plenty of tread. We even did some mild off-roading with it out near Capital Reef and once the center diff was locked in it even did pretty well in some off-camber stuff. We also took it down an unplowed two-track road with about 10 inches of corn snow on the ground near Brian Head for a couple of miles (just to see where it went) without any problems.

I agree that the styling is kind of funky. Seems like right now most of the manufacturers are competing to see who can make the ugliest car with the most weird angles on it.
