Count me in on the no sleep party, but I did manage about 2.5 hours. The rest was with a blown up stomach, wife wanted me to try an all celery juice that helps your gut. Well it sure did something to it for 4 hours last night :crapstorm::(

I still got some shoveling I put off until tomorrow! Be nice and cold for ya too!!

Got the ceiling up I've been staining, needs to be wiped down from a quick sand and a coat of poly, but pretty much there. Initially I think I said it was going to be a v-groove, but just flat pieces were used with no groove. Appliances were all dropped this morning as well:thumbsup:

Basement will be full insulation now and left drywalled since we saved some coin in some other areas. 1/2 inch rigid board on the walls to keep any random dampness off, then rockwool between studs. Will probably leave it drywalled with no taping for a little bit, then tape and paint later this year once we move down there and have some time to randomly do things. Not sure what I am going to do with the ceiling, will leave it open initially, but will be drywalled eventually when I do a push to "finish" the basement fully. Contemplating putting insulation in just for sound deadening with people walking upstairs. Plan to use the basement as a 3rd bedroom for guests, and they probably don't want to hear me wondering around at 5 am...we will see tho. Getting going on insulation tomorrow morning.

You used just S4S boards? Did you stain/paint the ceiling behind them, for when they shrink & gap over time & during the dry winter season? Looks nice, but you lose the advantage of the tongue/groove setup to disguise size fluctuations from season to season.

I might have typed it wrong before, it isn't indented into a "v" where the boards meet, but they do lock together with a tongue and groove. The tongue/groove and board ends have been stained to anticipate drying and swelling in the seasons.

The board behind hasn't been stained, but I think with the rest how it is, it shouldn't be an issue.

Ok, so you used traditional T&G, then, like the first board in the image. You threw me for a minute there, lol.

Yeah, I'm pretty basic with my knowledge of correct terms, but you are right, traditional tongue and groove was what we used.. I was trying to say I didn't do the "V" T&G in the original post and it obviously didn't come out right.

No worries. I just wanted to make sure you weren't setting yourself up for gaps in your ceiling

If I was in control of the project I probably would have, luckily my contractor is a little bit smarter than I am! He repeatedly mentioned that I stain all the ends/sides so that I wouldn't run into that.

I guess I can actually say something now that I have signed a contract--I'm officially director of technology for two school districts. Got the keys to the other district's schools today. My current district will be no problem, just a slight change in responsibilities. The other one...well, I'll find out!

Well, in amongst the project I was working on today(renovating laundry/utility room)... got a quote for dense pack in the walls....that will be a go, but, they need to check the basement for moisture issues(granite).
That, the second round of spray foam in the spring... and finishing windows... and THEN I can paint or side the place....

That bill has been pulled already, thankfully. If you want to run summer slicks in the winter, enjoy the ditch. The state needs to focus on finding money for our welfare increases, finding money for road upkeep, not telling people what kinds of tires they must use.

Congrats, surprised to hear you could do that with two districts. Our director is busy all day, and we are a small district.

What type of process are you looking at to correct the moisture if it turns out high? Something on the floor or will you have to do more drainage?
