Just another view on the no politics conversation thing.

I actually feel we don’t talk enough about politics with others. And it shows, because everyone gets all bent out of shape if you don’t see it the same way they do. As a society we struggle to see things through someone else’s eyes. I constantly tell the teachers I work with that we need to teach the students how to have respectful conversations with others about things we don’t agree on. Just think how much progress we would make as a country if things were not so polarized.

I have always been under the impression that’s it’s not ok to talk about how much we make. I am starting to think this is also bad. And not cause I want to hear folks brag about how much they make. Being in the education field, I want folks to understand what kind of money is made in what fields. As a society, I want people to realize where we are not spending money.

A987DDB1-263E-4FF3-8C60-B72BFABB2BD8.jpg Just pulled this whole chicken out of the smoker. Picked it up for $3 at big y today. Couldn’t beat the price. It’ll make for some awesome chicken wraps for lunch tomorrow and a little for the freezer too

I share very similar views with you. Politics is hard because you’re stuck picking one side or another even if you don’t agree with everything the party/politician stands for.

Money hasn’t bothered me until recent when I’ve been looking for jobs. It’s hard to know if you’re offers are competitive with no idea what others in similar fields are making.

BIG Y near us is closing in March they announced today(adams ma). It's only 16k sqft and I guess their stores are usually 50k, said they only can carry 40% of a usual big y. Also think its in a poorer area where they can't charge as much/super high taxes in the town and a city council that well... Not much of a future for the store there I don't think, the size is being used as a semi-valid excuse IMO.

I find the problem to be that I am socially liberal and fiscally conservative and if you're fiscally conservative you are automatically identified as 100% Trumper. I have never had the government to come into my bedroom and tell me what I can do but they're always trying to get into my wallet...which is why I vote with my
    wallet.
If you objectively look at what has happened with President Trump in office financially things couldn't be better for me as far as I'm concerned look at gas prices today five if you objectively look at what has happened with President Trump in office financially things couldn't be better for me as far as I'm concerned look at gas prices today $2.06 at BJ's.
My work which is a privately owned company paid out all it's bonuses the past year. I would prefer that our government shut down until it finally gets his ass in gear and balances the budget and actually identifies dollar for dollar how they're going to pay for everything in the budget. Every year it comes down to the budget and they find some bullshit thing no matter which side they're on that stalls it. Medicare/unions/education/planned parenthood/abortion/the wall/bail outs... every single time there will be something that someone uses to leverage the budget.
Racism and race issues will be the main focus of the upcoming election even though Donald Trump is not a racist. He's freeing prisoners convicted under 3 strikes for weed posession. Florida felons have their right to vote back. Trump finally moved the Israeli embassy after years of presidents promising to do it.
Our present debt is untenable. We must stop spending. A democrat will never do that.

yes...I too use hickory as the "base smoke" for most meats...and then accent.
I have my own cherry branches I cut and dried and they are great for pork..I use oak for pizza... Apple for pork as well and mesquite (rarely) is ONLY for chicken...it destroys everything else...I've also used alder (very unique and tasty, like a smoother hickory) and pecan...LOVE pecan...

After owning a smoker, what are things or features that you think are good. Should one get a propane one, an electric? I have done zero research, saw some one in Walmart for like 100 bucks, and decided for that kind of money, I want one. Only thing I currently know about them is the meat is freaking delicious.

I like electric because it’s set and forget. Like a bbq crockpot. Never have to worry about gas running out or anything.

BBQ crockpot is exactly what I am thinking. Do they have to be indoors? Or is that machine depending?
