One of the reasons I suggested the NEA4wd. They will assist through alot of this headache.
"Controlled access" will be huge as well.

    Good luck on the property.

You could do that! I'm gonna drive trucks and 4 wheelers tho:bikewheelie:

@Chasespeed Yeah I think those guys will be a big help. I want to make it something that could be fun and accessible for people, but I'm not willing to risk my ass for it. I could be just as happy just doing small rides with people and not be sued by strangers:rofl: They should be vital for showing me how to do it in a way that lets some more people use the property without me assuming risk.

Talk with the NEA. Most clubs are under the NEA, and you will have people from all over come out and wheel. They're responsible, set up clean up days, and are use to signing waviers and paying a small fee to wheel so it would not be anything new to an NEA club member

Yeah that is my plan, I reached out to them just tentatively yesterday and have started the conversation with them. I think they are my best option when getting started to figure everything out, and also get some good groups on there.

Nice! I've done a lot of environment work for construction. So beyond the offer of helping with the digging, if you need hands for laying out silt sacks and drainage let me know.

Also, hit me up before you buy anything for drainage, if you need any. During the warmer months I might be able to aquire some if you're not too picky about sizes

Morning all. What a mess that was yesterday. An inch or two of snow to start out, then sleet, then freezing rain, then rain. Ended up with about an inch of slush last night, and it's a solid crusty mess this morning. I started the truck 10 minutes before I left for work and I still had a hell of a time getting it cleaned off.

nope but i did finally pick up our trailer this passed weekend. turns out the reason our AC wasn't strong enough was because it was loose and had gaps flipping everywhere lol

We must have gotten something last night, the roads were all ice this morning. Some spots were really bad coming in.

Yeah drainage is always a PIA it would be great to have someone with good knowledge on that helping out! Thanks!

I think ideally, it would be a multi-step process, with the first step riding around the land with people like you with trail building knowledge and lay out some trails to get started. Then call in the manpower and actually get them in. Then as the area gets explored and understood better, add trails where it works/would be fun to create a nice system of different levels. From what I have been looking into, I think this should be a do-able thing.

If you're in central or eastern MA, these guys are great. I've trained with them and will continue to do so. http://www.massfirearmsschool.com/

It's not 100% comparable, but I've got over a decade of experience planning and building sustainable mountain bike trails. I'd be happy to spend some time to help you be successful if you think my experience can be of some use.
