Yeah, when my dad bought his 4610 the rims were getting tender around the valve stems even though the tires were still like new. Same problem, Calcium ballast. He replaced it with beet juice when he had the rims swapped

I’ve never heard of filling those wheels. Cool ass fact right there. That’s a bar trivia win.

Active shooter situation - after I wipe my bum bum with TP, I’d find the closest exit and stand there trying to help people out until I felt the shooter was too close or ever saw him. Gun stays holstered until it has to be used. I don’t need to be confused as the shooter.

I don't carry, but even if I did, I think my response would be the same - Flee (and take anyone with me that I can), cover (again, help anyone I am able to), and as a last resort fight back.

Yeah, more traction, and more stability. Weight in the tires lowers the center of gravity on a tractor a lot. Plus, if you've got a FEL you can really easily lift the rear wheels off of the ground; my little 18 horse unit would do a hand stand before I loaded the rears, and it only has a capacity of something like 800lbs. And even with weight in the rears, the grader blade on the 3pt, & probably 100lbs of logging chains on that I've still managed to hoist the rear wheels on it.

Yeah supposedly some fluids are less noisy than others, but I am getting used to it. I am 100% going with Rim Guard! It doesn't eat the wheels like salt water, doesn't kill things like anti-freeze and I think is heavier than both. It DOES rot out rubber fill stems, and eat the rubber cement used to seal them after 1-2 years apparently. So if you don't have brass ones, you need to replace them first. Mine actually seems to have come with them, but I mentioned to the dealer to bring some extras incase I was mistaken.

$2.90 a gallon, I need 24 gallons in each rear tire to fill 75% which is what they recommend. Something like $139 and will add 257 lbs to each tire. That should offset the loader which with the arms and bucket is 900lbs, but that weight is more spread out.

Doesn't freeze until -35 degrees. I probably won't be out in that.

edit: cost is material plus 100 an hour when they are in my yard but no travel time. they come to my town every tuesday so I am just added to the list. I am hoping it wouldn't take more than an hour? But I have no idea.

Nah, doesn't take them very long. They literally roll the tractor to where the valve stems are at the top of the wheel, let some air out, hook the pump up, and add the ballast. I think it took them 15 minutes to do mine, but I just loaded the tractor on the trailer and brought it over to the dealership that's 10 minutes down the road from me.

That's good to hear, than probably I am looking at $200 or so total. I'm not sure the closest place near me that does it, but I don't have a double axle trailer anyways. My brother has some but I don't think I'd save much money bringing it to a place near me, between the time to do everything, gas and their labor charge being similar.... Might as well watch them do it from my living room.

I will look into a trailer in a couple years probably, but I've read the manual and all the services seem like things I could figure out at home, and if I couldn't I know a buddy who could help easily enough. I also need a truck that could pull it...

Yeah, that's where having a little 18hp unit comes in handy

Of course, I've got a truck that could haul something considerably larger, but with a mere 3 acres to my name a small tractor is handier in a lot of ways. :notsure:

Again, as others have stated, nobody really knows till your there. With CPR, the hope is you know enough to react somewhat correctly, or even feel confident to do something.

I would hope, from training in the schools, to first take cover and figure out what to fuck is happening. This may actually be the safest place if others are screaming and running around. Then, being a Walmart or other box store, I know there are emergency exits all over the fucking place, but I wouldn’t just run out. Either watch someone else first or toss the door open and maybe something out.

It’s common to want to run away, but you need to be calculated in you run away. They think there might have been another shooter in the recent Food Festival in Cali, and I think with how screwed up some of these people are, I would anticipate a 2nd person outside just to be safe.

They are also telling people to attacking these people now, but lots of people brought up a good point about having your weapon drawn and being target as the shooter. As far as using a hand gun versus an AK, I would think taking cover and surprise attack is your only hope.

This all being said, my instincts probably would be to run like the fucking wind.

@m603holden and any other in the know.

Headed up to the top of Moosehead this weekend, was looking to camp at Libster Lake. Does anyone know anything about those sites or any other on Moosehead up there? I think the Loster lake ones may be boat access only.

Wondering if anyone has an old set of tires and/or take off TRD wheels they are looking to sell.
I have a friend in desperate need of tires and he mentioned wheels as well.

I’ll be switching out my stock 17s from my sport in the near future, probably just after Labor Day as I am hoping to get new rubbers then.

    Cool. Thanks.
How much meat you got on them?
He has 16s now, but that could change with the wheels he puts on.

Bingo, training is one thing but no one knows what's going to actually happen in that type of situation.
    I have tires to sell
