My favorite part above it camping! I usually eat better camping than I do at home, it’s awesome!

Wedding is over, Maine tomorrow and I'm pumped! We were going to get up early and pack the car and be out the door by 6, but realized we aren't going to be doing anything tomorrow anyways when we get there..

So we are going to have a lazy morning, go get some brunch, come back and pack, and aim for a noon departure. Be there in time for dinner.

It hits that caveman instinct to cook over a fire. I get better sleep camping than any other time. You fall asleep by 11 and wake up at like 5 am.

Sooooo, I forgot to knock on wood. :annoyed:

Woke up at 4:45 to take a piss, walking back to bedroom hear my phone ring :angrygirl::angrygirl::angrygirl: It's the fire pump company, notifying me about carbon monoxide alarm going off.

Good news: It didn't set out entire system off and wake up the entire neighborhood

Bad news: It notified the VOLUNTEER fire department and sent 5 guys over at 4:45 am. Oh, and the couple from last night is now awake and wondering what's going on, and the alarm came from their bedroom.

We have had this issue (without a couple there) 3 times previously, and the FD while nice, wasn't super excited about being woken up for this again. For the same issue. Turns out it wasn't what we had previously thought, and I had been following their new suggestions since the last time a month or two ago. So they did relax and started to investigate.

Good news: Found the problem for real this time after having multiple installers come check their work and finding nothing wrong...fucking batteries are gassing off as they charge and we don't have nice sealed ones. So, now that we know easy fix! (knocks on wood)

Bad news: We need two of them, and they are $1100 each with a quick search. We also can't close off the pump room until we change the batteries.
EDIT: Finding some for like 4-500. But not sure if they have everything needed.

Good news: Couple are both teachers/principals and understand the fire drill concept quite well. They were very gracious and understanding and told me not to worry about it, they are happy the alarm worked and they are alive :anonymous:. Being alive is good, but not sure if "At least we didn't die getting married at bloom meadows" is the best review to get either

So yeah...my easy, laid back, sleep in morning did not work and we are gonna have to get a gift card to a breakfast place for the FD crew. They are nice guys and always tell me not to worry...but I feel like you want those guys on your side so we will butter them up a little in apology.

Ive seen off-gassing batteries set off all sorts of alarms/detection, but, not CO.
I remember comms shelters using hydrogen detectors when they were using lead-acid batteries.....

We have the ones you pour the stuff in and mix the water yourself. Was super cheap when I did them, regret it though, this has been going on for a year every 3-4 months and is always at like 5 am when the air is most still and it adds up.

Guys put their detectors all over, readings were 15-20, but couldn't find anything spiking. Then went to the batteries and it was getting 50-60's. Then they pulled a cap off and it was sky high.

Alarm went off upstairs at 6ppm or whatever it measures by. Inside the pump room was 140 when they showed up, last time was over 200. So it leaks up slowly and gets into the suite couples stay in.

No idea about the chemicals gassing off, or reasons etc...I only know what the results have been for us. So gonna switch it up.

This might be a stupid question, but rather than spend a grand on new batteries, can you just vent the old ones? We do that with campers all the time, just a sealed battery box and a hose to the outside.

Yea we could. But then it crowds the room in the case of actual fire and it’s already small area. Also not interested in that eventually leaking and this happening again. Rather it just not be a possibility

Only names we have, are the kids.
Nothing stating married, spouses name, etc... that sort of thing.
In this case, IF anything were to happen to US, it becomes just a nice tattoo...
