On the car I drove that had it, when I started the car, it stayed running. When I came to a stop at a red light or something, the engine would stop. All I had to do was press the clutch in and it would restart and stay running till the next stop.

Just made a deal to pick up these bad boys tomorrow night. Looks like this truck will be a black out project. Getting rid of the chrome grille and bumpers may take some time.

    (sigh)

Question for those on here about what constitutes very good condition. I'm trying to trade out my Corbeau seats out of my Vette since they're basically Middle Ages torture devices for me these days and I'm trying to do a straight swap for a set of stock seats. I had an older gentleman message me on FB a few nights back saying he had a set that were in the same shape as the seats in my ad (I had posted a set of my old seats to show what condition I was interested in getting in return). I asked if he had photos and he said he did not (red flag #1) but he was local and I assumed since he was older maybe he didn't understand fully how to transfer photos via messenger, etc etc. When I called on the phone I specifically asked about the condition and he said they were great.

I got there and the driver side seatback bolster was worn through until white was displaying on the part. The passenger seat had a divot in the leather from something that had been sitting on it from storage. There were some normal age creases which is to be expected, but they weren't exactly clean either. They also had been stored in a shed that I could actually smell the moisture from as I was walking up.

Am I asking too much? Deep down I knew it would be stupid to go without photos as I would have immediately said no based on what I saw. I might have made a $200-300 offer figuring I could clean them up and live with them for what I paid and could sell my Corbeaus for profit, but ugh. To top it off I high centered on his driveway leaving as he had a hump at the end and lived on a blind corner on a busy road. I scraped the whole underside of my car quite good and chipped paint on the underside of my rocker.

Am I too high in my standards here? To me good to very good should be some creases, but I would think a set of seats that the color has worn away and need to be redyed doesn't constitute very good.

    /rant.

No, I don't think your asking too much. It is very risky to go look at something, and not have any pictures to go on. I did the same thing when I bought my 2016 seats, I saw a picture of them in the wrecked truck, and asking the salesperson how the condition is, and just taking there word for it. Thankfully it worked out, and they just needed to be shampooed/vacuumed.
I would think there would be some good condition seats out there for a C5 Corvette, as many are not driven too much up here in the northeast, but :notsure:.
Also, what are those silver wheels that you have, with the cardboard still on them?

I'm having a much more difficult time than I thought I would. I've had trade ads up forever and now have switched to actively looking for just seats to buy. I think the ultimate problem is I'm kicking myself for ever changing seats. I knew the Corbeaus would be a bit narrow ordering them but they had excellent reviews. When I got them in my house, I was iffy on them, but went ahead anyways since I would have lost of ton of $$$ returning them. Then like an idiot I sold my stock seats. Granted, I did get absolute top dollar for them, but I desperately miss them.

The biggest issue with this car is I'm typically used to modifying vehicles to make them better / more what I want, and the modifications actually improving the car (like the aftermarket gauges in my STi, the audio system, etc). Every single modification I've done to the Vette has either not worked or made it worse. Pro retrofit HID headlamps bounced due to GM's crappy popup design and I had people pulling over thinking I was a police officer. Plus the whole system was so sensitive to battery voltage if the car didn't sit on a tender all week the headlights didn't work until I drove the car for 10 minutes. I bought upgraded metal gears for the headlight motors because the plastic gears strip. The reinstall somehow didn't line up 100% so they never worked right. I ended up having to buy brand new motors. I bought a clear roof and it rattles terribly. There are adjustments, but I haven't sat down and done them. I bought a Broadway wide angle mirror and it's too heavy so every bump I hit it falls down. I swapped the stereo and added a reverse camera to have it short out somehow (seriously?) I had the Harmonic Balancer replaced 3x in two years. The GM parts failed 3 times and I finally had to go aftermarket. Every damn thing in the car creaks or rattles.

    I should have bought a Z.

Anywho...the silver wheels are FJ Cruiser Steel Wheels painted silver.

The wheels look great, I have never seen someone paint those wheels silver!

I have been in the same boat with my truck, but the modifications I have done were not too expensive to repair/replace back to stock. The only one I regret was I bought a URD short throw shifter, and I hated how notchy it was, so I took it out, and sold it years later for less than I paid for it (I did get cheaper, since it was used).

But just keep looking, seats for your car will pop up eventually!
