Could be worse; we got an inch of snow, then it got covered with freezing rain overnight, so this morning there was a 1/2 inch of crust all over everything.

It was like being a teenager again. :notsure:

Surprisingly, no airbag deployment at all

Were you speaking with your agent directly or their adjuster?
I just got off the phone today with insurance since it was their first business day open since the accident.
It probably will not be personally seen by State Farm until Friday because I had to drive up and sign a release at the towing company. Then, Call and authorize State Farm to tow it to 30 miles south to an approved body shop who will give their estimate to repair. Then State Farm will send their adjuster out and the battle begins. All receipts have been tallied, multiple similar listings found for comparison, etc

That is the puddle of diff oil from the cv coming out.

there doesn’t seem to be any interest in it from here. I am leaning more towards the lower ball joint bolts sheered before the upper ball joint broke.

I know it’s early but I’ve been thinking about a replacement and a I am leaning towards another Toyota 4x4 under $10k that I can buy outright.
I am looking at either another 3rd gen 4Runner or a 1st gen Tacoma double cab.
I know the Tacoma double cab and my 4Runner are essentially the same thing.
I could even swap over my sliders as they are the only thing intact after seeing the 4R in daylight
My set of winter wheels, spares belts, hoses, fluids, CVs, etc would all be usable.
I have never shopped 1st gen double cabs but I need the full size back seat, and the larger bed vs the cargo area of the 4Runner would fit my lifestyle a little better.

    How does this Tacoma look?
I know the markup on 1st double cabs is insane so this one doesn’t seem too bad considering the low miles and how clean it looks.

Ahh..that oil puddle looke like a black after market control arm that's snapped off :)

I was speaking with the woman who gets the report from the adjuster who saw the vehicle. She worked for the ins co my mom and pop ins agents used for vehicle insurance. It was her job to look at the field report and determine the final compensation. I don't precisely know what that job is called but boy was she in charge of a lot of money day to day!

When they determine the truck is totaled, don't let them take the truck to their lot until you agree to the payout. They'll try to move the truck to their lot to save the daily storage fee but the potential for the fee to climb each day can be leverage to get them to move on an increased offer.

Had LBJ failure on my 1st gen and know what you're feeling man. Just glad your safe, the truck can be replaced. When mine failed, the ball joint ball broke free from the socket. Tire, CV, spindle, brake line all destroyed. When it was being repaired toyota "reclammied" the spindle and LBJ and replaced under good will. The other LBJ I had to pay for. Such an awful design, love the 1st gens and 3rd gen runners but not with a non fail safe type ball joint. Best of luck

So I'm looking at the Black Friday deals and I see a Safeway Digital fireproof safe for 130.00.
My question is, when your Fireproof safe goes thru a fire and melts the locking mechanism off it, how do you open it?o_O
