Good question, it is holding on so far. I'm gonna try and mess with it to get the clip back in there when it's a little warmer out but I might...

    And what fits in them

I wouldnt worry too much about bearing life for consumer off the shelf compressors.
Rings, and valves will need attention too.

Screws are the way to go... see avatar... if you need to maintain a constant system pressure or cannot deal with the harmonics/pulses that come with a recip.
Small single and twin cyl recips should still be able to be serviced in your garage, but, usually just as easy to swap it out.
As long as it isnt oil-less, itll likely outlast the motor as long as the oil stays at level, and clean.

I'm not too worried about the service life, I can manage to maintain my equipment on my own for the most part.
It is hard to argue that a screw compressor is better, until you look at cost - 3-4x the cost of a reciprocating compressor like the ones we're talking about, is just enough to get you in the door for a screw compressor.

Edit: If I was buying for a shop, or someplace where it would see regular use, it would probably be worth the money, but I'm buying for personal use in my garage. I'll be doing some media blasting, plasma cutting, and occasional painting, but chances are that this will sit idle more often than not. I'll likely fire it up to keep it in good working order and inflate a couple of bike tires here and there, more often than I'll actually put it into heavy service. The demands of the tools I want to use though just can't be met with my little Home Depot 25 gallon hobby compressor I have today.

Absolutely. Even then, for air, I see limited applications for them. Most commonly, power plants/chemical plants, etc with huge demand. Several, on drives, etc.

Nothing wrong with a recip. Storage capacity is important too.

I used to have my compressor in my garage when I owned my house, but now that I rent I don't have a garage, so the compressor lives in the basement. It's a big 30gal 10hp unit and I can't tell you how many times I forget that I left it on and sometime late at night it cycles and scares me half to death. Damn thing is so loud.

I have used this spray gun for Fluid Film, and now WoolWax, and it works great! It has an adjustable nozzle, so you can set how much product comes out at the tip, and you can exchange the tip for different hoses (extended reach, etc.).

Yep i also like this gun I’ve made a few custom long wands though as the 3’ wands just don’t cut it for the boxed frames

What about a slightly molested FJ cruiser? Just slightly, not enough to have permanent emotional damage.
