Yeah looks like I’m on my own with the install. All my “friends” suck, no time to help me! Still gotta buy chocks, 6 ton lift stands, torque wrench, deep socket set, beer and pizza.

Still cheaper than paying $800 for install. If things go sideways, there’s always the God given legs I have or public transportation to work! :fingerscrossed:

Today, while driving RT 1, north of Bath, Maine saw a lighted sign at a NAPA store which read “FLUID FILM, IN STOCK”. It’s that time of year !

Probably one of the few that know what I mean. Its going full on rock crawler... Front is still up in the air as to which way I'm going. Still waiting for marlin to release their rock crawler long travel.

$800? Jeez I usually come in around $400 for a lift install.

I can tell. Don't you have a radio and beer to play with? :D

Na the 5.29s and a 4.7:1 crawl box in front of the factory 2.57:1 low range, and 3.95:1 first gear will be enough torque for crawling lol

@tacobell007 gonna keep her road worthy/legal or trailer queen with all those mods? Are you going to keep spring over axle or considering SUA?

heading to the airport in about an hour for AZ. Staying in Sedona but plan is day at Canyon and then a day at some other big hiking area the opposite direction. Maybe a day or two putting around that area, supposedly hiking right off our Air BNB. Back for Friday, which I'm happy about as I don't like to travel more than a few days at a time.

With the time change and just getting used to our time change...I think I'm gonna be catching all the sunrises out there no problems! Might be passed out by sunset tho

Probably post a pic or two in the mornings when I am bored, but otherwise have a good week guys!

I looked at five vehicles on Saturday.

#1: 2002 Tacoma double cab TRD 4x4, 160xxx, diff lock, smoker vehicle, TB/WP already done, very nice body and interior, drivetrain solid. $10,700. Frame- freshly painted. I went to push on the frame by the rear spring
hanger and got freshly wet undercoating on hand and sleeve. talked to dealer- he said the frame was soft so he cut out two spots, welded patches in and painted. PASS
#2: 2001 Tacoma double TRD limited 4x4, 105,000, diff lock, advertised 1 owner- immaculate frame and body, no rust whatsoever. $9,500 I get there and the truck is buried 9 vehicles in a junkyard (weeds growing through the gravel, fluids staining the ground). Severe body rust and scratches all over. spider-web cracking of the paint. miscolored panel. I didn't even talk to a salesman for the keys. HARD PASS
#3: 2004 Tundra double cab TRD 4x4- 130xxx $8500- swiss cheese frame- HARDER PASS
#4: 2003 Tacoma doube cab TRD 4x4- 149,000, diff lock- $8,800- frame, body mounts, rockers were all very crusty- no through rot yet but too far gone for a long term purchase, severe dings and scratches all over the body. didn't even drive it. PASS
#5: 2004 Tacoma double cab TRD 4x4, 140,000, diff lock- $10,900- minor body imperfections- lots of swirls in the black paint, hood latch cable broken, frame looks to be a warranty replacement, no body rust, interior ok but livable. I think, "finally, a rust-free truck that I can work with." during my pre-engine start checklist, I cannot get the engine oil dipstick out. HMMM. I start the engine and I think I have and exhaust leak. After driving for minutes, the "exhaust leak" gets louder, not quieter. The minor exhaust leak turns out to be a top end engine noise- probably a lash adjuster. The dealer showed me every oil change recorded on carfax from the same shop. I believe the engine had been run for its entire life with the improper amount of oil (most likely based on how much oil came out). PASS

5 trucks and I couldn't find one with an acceptable body, frame, and drivetrain.

It looks like I will take a day and head south, towards the Virginia area and see what rust is awaiting me there.

EDIT: this trip was a big 400 mile loop from NY, central MA, central and southern CT, and back to NY

Thanks! And yes trying to do it in sections to keep the cost down, but I just saw marlin has a sale going on right now
