Mine is pretty old and tired, I wasn't really 'looking' but this might make sense for me to replace the old MTD. Thing was used and abused when I got it, it's been doing pretty well sense with some small maintenance but it's going to need some fairly major work in the coming couple years.

I'm not a native Masshole, I know how to operate a snowblower and retain all of my digits in the process. :stirthepot:

I go by the old rule I learned on a construction site, when it comes to equipment, don't put your fingers anywhere you wouldn't put your manhood.

NH does or did have a law saying that if the governor declares a weather emergency you can drive sleds on public roads. I was at a bar in Manchester during thanksgiving storm 12 or so years ago. The parking lot was all sleds. It was the only bar open in all of manchester.

I never went through with the plow, and after consideration I just said screw it, pay a guy. I'm away so often it's really the only option. I am literally gone every single weekend.

I will get some better pics and try to figure out how much this thing is worth.

How do you operate an excavator? Apparently, I've been doing it wrong...
There's a bar where I grew up that's like that. There's a trail system behind it and, on any given winter weekend, there are at least 20 sleds parked in the lot. It's in Speigletown, NY, some of you Capital Region guys may know the one.

I severely doubt this but I usually never say never! Doesn't make sense to be honest. The purpose of a state of emergency is to reduce traffic on the roads so people don't die and snow removal is easier. If you open it to sleds you'd have us redneck fucknuts plastered all over the place, between the guardrails, bouncing off of plow trucks, pure mayhem, dead bodies, believe me. I can tell you this much for sure... If that scenario happened in the last 20 years, I would have known about it 100%. Because I would have been one of those redneck fucks smashing my sled to pieces in Manchester which brings up another point.. Sleds and urban environments do not mix even when there is 10 feet of snow. You'll break the shit out them.

Now there is actually a legal trail that comes into Manchester from the Auburn side, so I have to believe that you were at a bar close to there. And if it weren't a snow event you'd probably see even more sleds there.

At my house in Henniker you can go to the supermarket, gas station... I can go to Pats Peak and go to that bar... there are a lot of places that will have dozens of sleds outside on any given night there is actually good snow in Southern NH.

Looks like its still legal in Maine

    E. A snowmobile may be operated on streets and public ways during a period of emergency when the emergency has been so declared by a police agency having jurisdiction and when travel by conventional motor vehicles is not practicable. This paragraph does not apply to a snowmobile operated by a public utility regulated by the Public Utilities Commission while being operated in the course of the utility's corporate function, so that public utilities may effectively and speedily carry out their obligations to the public.

Had a neighbor help me set up my 3pt blower the other day because I wasn't confident about cutting the shaft to length...anyways he's very much a "f it, you'll be alright" type guy and usually does things however he wants without regards to modern safety.

He stopped me, turned me to look me right in the eyes with his hand on my shoulder before making damn sure I understood to never get near the PTO or Auger with any of the 3 pto switches "on". Said he's seen a lot of guys get hurt real bad doing that.

Yeah, you don't want to end up doing The Twist.

You don't weigh enough to even kick that diesel onto the governor if you got wrapped up in the pto; it'll just thrash you around until enough bones break/limbs come off that it spits you out.

That's a visual I did not need...but again the more I'm freaked out by it, the more likely I follow the rules and don't end up doing....the twist

He’s right, don’t mess with the tractor PTO. I worked on a small farm growing up, lots of really old equipment without any of the guards the new stuff has. Before I started working there, the farmer got his arm wrapped up in a PTO, he’s luck it didn’t get torn clean off but I guess it was pretty damn close. That machinery doesn’t stop just cause you flinch or say ouch!
