Mine have just under 40k on them and tread has probably a little under 2/32 left on them. Not sure how many you have right now, but I don't think they'll make it another 50k.

Any RI people here have any insight into the new ridiculous inspection rules? I'm reading that there's no tint
at all allowed other than factory tint. Has anyone gotten inspection this year and can confirm? Hope they're not
being that strict, I was going to do a 30 tint on the front windows in the next couple weeks but now I'm afraid to. 30 tint was legal in the past!

Yeah we are ok! We are actually in AZ this week visiting my parents, but our building and pets are fine. The tornado ran east - west just north of downtown, and a few of the TN TW guys were hit, but luckily not too bad it seems. The tornado never made it out to Vanderbilt, which is my neighborhood. We head back tomorrow anyways, so I'm hoping to help out this weekend.

In other news, I came out to AZ and got sick, so time to mix some hand sanitizer into a cheap Mexican beer and chug.

Thanks for thinking of us! Much appreciated. I miss y'all

I have only heard that they are now taking pictures of the front windows halfway open (to see how dark they are), and taking pictures of the license plates, to make sure they are legible. If I were you, I would hold of on getting your tint until your inspection is done. Granted, you will probably be hassled in a couple of years, but :notsure:.

Loves me a good old fashioned.

Had some company over last weekend and made some grape simple syrup to put with peanut butter whiskey and a dash of salt. Great dessert cocktail.

I had a mostly cosmetic but theoretically functional chimney removed a few years ago...It was in my kids room and looked like I could push it down with 1 push...It turned out that there had been a chimney fire in the '80's and the owner had poured concrete down the chimney and then pulled a steel plug back up through it as it hardened to refinish it from the inside...So the thing ended up weighing like 6 tons instead of 2 and cost me an additional like $2000 to have removed. The demo guys said they had never seen anything like it...insane the stuff I've found in my house over the years. Quoting myself...

Morning all. Rainy here last night. Melted the last of the snow out behind the house, so now all I've got is the 4 inches of ice that accumulated during all of those winter rain storms.
If you're not married to masonry, metalbestos would be considerably cheaper. When I was working building construction I chatted with the masons a few times and I think the average price to rebuild a masonry chimney was something like $5-6k. Just repointing was something like $100 a foot, when there wasn't any brickwork that needed to be done.
One of the places that we did was up at Sunday River and it had a big masonry fireplace with a fieldstone chimney built into the structure of the house and JUST the masonry work (materials not included) was something like $20k

Morning! I got the boat uncovered last night after coming home from work. Was warm and all the snow melted off the cover, which had somewhat collapsed so I figured get the cover off and wake it from the big sleep. Very exciting! Starting two big projects with it next week. New lower floor and a fancy, auto-pilot trolling motor.

Mine's buried behind a snowbank, which is probably just as well because after this warm weather it's pretty soupy between the boat and the driveway.

Yep, well my season starts significantly earlier than yours I imagine. When is typical ice out on Sabbatus? Does your boat stay in the water there?

One of my problems was I never took the prop off at the end of last year and the lower unit was sitting half in a puddle that had become a big ice block. It had melted enough that I could raise the motor, so rather than let it freeze back in again I yanked it from the back 40.

Wow! Most of the horrors I've found are electrical and I've been taking care of them little by little. One double-tapped breaker, one entire room run by adding the hot line to the always hot side of a light switch in another room, lots of 20 amp on 14 gauge wire.

That's about the price I thought. There are a few issues with anything but masonry--the existing chimney has two flues. One goes to the oil boiler in the basement, another to a pellet insert in my living room masonry fireplace. So, I'd have two pipes going out. I wouldn't care if it were in the back, but it's on a road-facing side of the house, so I think it'd look odd and hurt the value of the house. The existing chimney is also quite wide so eliminating it would require me to fill in the space with siding. I don't have enough extra to cover that whole section, and the company that makes my siding was sold to Ply Gem who discontinued the line about 15 years ago. I replaced a few damaged corners with something from Georgia Pacific that I felt was close enough for that purpose, but it'd look odd if I used it for a section of an outside wall.

Gotcha. In that case yeah, looks like you're sticking with masonry, lol. Is it all brickwork, or is it formed concrete blocks with a brickwork facade?

Yeah, probably a bit. Generally ice-out is the end of April, but I think it'll be considerably earlier this year. Most years there's 2+ feet of ice and this year the most I found anywhere was around 14 inches. The boat didn't live on the lake last summer because the dock needs work This spring I'm going to rebuild the part on-shore, and build a floating extension with a rub rail so we can tie up.
