I get the mindset, early on I felt like this was all a massive overreaction. It's pretty clear now it wasn't. I'd be as safe as you can for the next month, then reevaluate based on current data.

Yeah, it's hard when I work in manufacturing for aero/defense and we're considered essential, I still go to work nearly every day for at least an hour to take care of stuff I can't do remote, it's hard to not think "Eh screw it I'll just stop on my way home for milk and/or dinner tonight", I know "meal planning" isn't the thing to get out of this, but now I am actually doing that just so I'm going out less. It's just me and the wife, so my norm is to stop at the store and get what I want that night, rather than try to plan ahead for a week. Leftovers thereafter too.

And I have a cattle dog - she needs to run, she can't be cooped up. So we go to the trails where it's just us, but we would do that this time of year anyway, she can run off leash and chase squirrels, etc. and it's the right weather that it's warm enough, light, and no bugs yet. So, really (even still) other than not doing Trivia in person at the bar, and working from home a lot, not much has changed for us.

We'll see what next month brings. I'd like to have memorial day weekend as a thing.

I get closing down everything to keep people from gathering, but closing the open air parks is a little ridiculous. Not everyone has a yard and we're just not meant to be cooped up for that long (especially people with kids to need to get them outside). They 'closed' the public play structures around me, we still go to the school and bring bikes to ride around. As far as I know, the walking and hiking trails around me are still open also. Seems like they'd have bigger fish to fry than issuing citations to people walking around an open air park.

No. The outside is closed for April.

Problem is that since nobody has anything to do, and people are "working" at home, they're all going out and congregating together outdoors. Trails, woods, etc. Last wekeend we went to Big River area in Western RI for a mountain bike ride, the trails were packed. :notsure:

I dunno, I get both sides of it. I don't have kids (fortunately, through all this) but as mentioned, 2 1/2 year old cattle dog, she can take one day of no/little workouts, and even at that come 6-7PM she's at least needing a few minutes of fetch to let the legs spin. But if we do that, the next day she is bonkers until we do something. And a leashed walk isn't enough.

Whatever I know the secret spots to park near the trails we go to if they close off the parking lots. Having a tacoma helps get us there too :D

I complain about my 2/3 of an acre being about 10x less than I would like, but I am glad I have it right now. If I walk down the hill to the river, I can't even see the house so I feels like I can get away a bit.

Ive Been clearing brush and cleaning up my woods with some guys I worked with this winter, one lives in an apartment. His roommate is under a self imposed 2 week quarantine and freaks out that the guy is going to work (we are outside the entire time and have our own sections of woods to tend to) and so whenever he is home he has to stay in his room. He’s happy to work outside and see the sun. Living out in these parts is just another huge advantage over city life IMO:thumbsup:

1/3 acre here and it’s good in the city area. I could use more but I’m happy with what I have.

one of our team members was sent home ton quarantine today so that’s nice.

My wife is part of a workout group. They can't do group workouts. They did triva night.

I've seen some funny stuff but nothing made me laugh as much as watching 30 grown ass adults on zoom trying to sing Happy Birthday in unison, most (like me) a few beers in on a Thursday evening. That is probably the highlight to my quarantine.

Mangers husband is in commercial electric and he told his wife yesterday some of the top guys are pushing for a full shut down on everything and to stop all jobs.

He said it would still need to be voted on and approved by governor though, but the rumblings are starting.

As a business owner, and someone who is about to build a home for his MIL, lets just say I am not happy with the news. Then on top of it, the SBA and GOV't are fucking us all on these "emergency loans" and can't figure out how we should apply, or even where we should apply and now they won't be done in time.

I bet Congress got their money without any issues though.

    Some stuff
Congress, and corporations. No issues for sure.

This whole thing should be a massive wake-up call.
They only care for themselves, and nothing for the every day person.

Its, almost as if, they dont really care if we make it or not, and as everything get devalued, that money they DIDNT have to spend, will get used to purchase companies, property, etc for pennies on the dollar(again), and then jack rent up, product prices. Etc

But, no.... theyd NEVER do that...

    Morning all. TGIFFF.

This nonsense makes me glad I got my seed order in early this year; a lot of places are selling out because of all of the people putting in 'emergency' gardens this spring.

lol people who have no idea and they’ll kill everything and find out gophers exist and won’t actually get crops for a few months. Panic at best.

but there also may be people who finally have time to go at it again too.

Yeah, but I'd be for more people growing their own food, overall. Sort of like the 'victory gardens' of WWII, I suppose, except that people today have no clue about where their food comes from, as opposed to people in the 40's who usually knew the farmer unless they lived in a city. :notsure:

I plant a mega garden every year, & this season will be no different. In fact it's already underway. My mammoth sugar snap peas have already broken ground. The trellis they will consume is 20 x 10.

I'm hoping I fall into the latter category. I'm finally home more and may actually start a garden. We've been talking about doing it for years now, we just want a small garden, tomatoes and maybe strawberries. Nothing major, we have a small spot with a lot of sun that I think those 2 would do well with. I'd love to have a bigger area to really be able to plant a full out garden, potatoes, corn, cucumbers, squash, the works. Lot more work to care for a garden of that size though...

That's actually what I was looking to order more of, but Johnny's was sold out. I usually plant Sugar Ann's but had to order Sugar Snap instead. I'm expanding my peas this year because the last couple of years we've eaten through the entire crop and have only frozen like 3-4 bags
