We've done a small one in some of these like 3x3 plastic planters from Lowes the past few years. Mainly tomatoes, strawberries, squash, cucumbers. Though last year the fucking squirrels or chipmunks got pretty much everything. Which sucks, cause fresh tomatoes are awesome.

O and mint, but then it spread to my yard and just comes back every year so we don't plant it anymore.

Once you find a strain of an plant you like you should harvest your own seeds. This crop of snap peas are from seeds taken from last years harvest. Actually, I think I started growing this strain about 9 years ago. I do the same with a few varieties of green beans, cucumber, zuc, summer squash. Basically any pant that you would normally start from seed. In my opinion or at least in my experience some plants (tomato plants, peppers, brussel sprouts, etc.) do better if you start with a healthy small established plant.

I had my big job just shut down, announced in our job meeting yesterday. Goes into place today at 3PM. Sucks.

I still have a few small jobs ongoing but I think it's only a matter of time.

I'm sort of doing grass :rofl: we have a dog that digs and runs around the back yard, don't want to do it in the front yard. There's a section off the side but that doesn't get enough sun. So, no vegetable gardens for now. I was thinking of doing some grape vines though.

I generally do, and do it with most of my seeds, so long as they aren't a hybrid. But last year the batch I left on the vine to go starchy and harvest for seeds had a powdery mildew attack so I didn't want to risk it again this year and tossed them. And since we're expanding this year I'd have needed more anyway. :notsure:

    This one hurt.

My in-laws have a cottage in Duxbury which has private beach rights. Technically we'd be allowed down there and it would be a way for my in-laws to see us and the kids from a safe distance and a way to get the f*** out of the house. However, part of me thinks it just feels irresponsible to do so, even if there's no chance for transmission. My plan was to get the Vette running and follow them down on Sunday. I just don't necessarily see how walking 10 feet apart on a beach with all the wind could possibly cause transmission.

I work from home, but the expectation is to be in front of my PC from 6:30 to 4:30 or so, which leaves Amy to take care of the kids. How do you keep a 6 month old and 2.5 year old occupied for 10 hours a day when it's arguably too cold for them to be outside all day. My life is basically tagging in and out on the kids so I can work with basically no leisure time until after 7:45 or so at night. While ultimately this isn't any different than if I were working at the office, it's just wearing.

Hopefully the weather starts to turn some more and I can get outside on the weekends. If Amy and I trade off kid duty during the weekend in 2 hour or so blocks, I can at least get some movement going.

Right there with ya, I do overnights for the state and my wife’s company is education tech so they’re in hyperdrive as students are all at home. I’ll get home by 0740 and stay up til 12-1 until the kids nap time (2 & 3.5yos) so she can work most of the day uninterrupted. Sleep til 4-430 to get them dinner and in bed and do it all over again.

Looking forward to the weekend for more than 4-5 hours of sleep.

I keep telling myself there’s no other option, there will be an end and daycare will reopen. silver lining of saving a fuckload of money in the meantime.

Same here on both accounts. My wife wants to take the kids up to my in-laws in Ogunquit Maine. But they are the target demographic for the disease formally known as SARS. She's still working, but only here and there (still getting paid FTW). I'm working 0700 - 1600 every day. But we don't have dedicated office space, so i'm setup in my dining room. And my 3 +5 year olds are fucking crazy and alot of work between trying to basically home school the 5 year old and keep the 3 year old from killing himself.

I am lucky in that I can shut the door to my office if I have a conference call or something. My wife is a teacher so she's currently not teaching because her district isn't set up for distance learned, but they're trying to set things up, so I'm sure there will be much more juggling incoming.

My FIL works in the maintenance department at a hopsital. He is currently taking all the precautions but says as soon as anyone near him at work gets sick, he's done until this blows over.

I feel for all of you with young kids. I couldn't begin to imagine that ciaos. We are empty nesters, although one of my daughters came home just to get away from the city while this is going on. I certainly feel grateful to live by the coast, the ocean is a great distraction.

We live on a lake, but it's still drawn down from the winter and they don't close the dam until after Easter. And the damn playground at the beach is closed, with is a real bummer. So really striking out on all accounts. Kids are basically going crazy and driving us nuts after having been in house for almost a month, only leaving to play in the yard or go for a walk.

I'm seeing a lot of districts around me just starting to hand out devices now. We, on the other hand, did three pickup days over the past couple of weeks and announced today that we won't be providing any more devices in order to keep interactions with the public to a minimum. It wasn't my favorite project but I'm so glad we got it done while the case counts were still reasonably low in this area. I don't think I'll want to be seeing hundreds of families (even if it's just passing something through a car window) in another week.
