I haven't tried the get the real ID yet, but in RI, they make it sound as simple as checking the option for an extra $10 when I renew my license. :notsure:

Surprisingly, the guy I hired for $500 came with a crane. I thinks pretty common around here, tight lots tend not to lend themselves to free climbing.

i don’t know if I have mine but I have a passport. When you move to ri it’s a rigamarole of paperwork and visits and whatnot. We went from renting to buying a house in a different city and to change my address on my license took like 2 minutes online didn’t have any issues. So I believe it. They do what they can to keep the in person visits to the dmv to a minimum.

The last girl I dated went to Florida. The warm weather was very tempting. Most of the (good) housing in the area were in HOA neighborhoods.
I just can't imagine paying sometime to tell me I can't do things. Two of the rules were "Can't leave the garage open when not entering or exiting." and "Can't work on vehicles in the driveway except for minor emergency repairs." I'd break those two rules all the time.

Thing is I know there’s a lot of good hoas. But I don’t want to put myself in the situation to see worst case scenario ever. Pay them to be told what color I can paint or what windows I can use or that I can’t do solar or that I can’t do x y or z? No thanks.

I haven't been to the DMV in years. I'm glad most of it is online now. I don't miss sitting around the DMV for several hours.

Her hoa fees aren't bad, but still, houses can only be a few combinations of colors. Can't have colored curtains. Can't have a trailer if it can be seen from the street. Can't have a dog house. If you violate any rule, they'll try to rape your wallet "as much as legally allowed"

funny story. I work in aerospace quality assurance so code and regulatory compliance is my gig (exciting I know) so I knew to search and how to dig through the regulations to know everything I needed for my day in hell. Took the day off like everyone at work warned me about.

I went in around 930 and was out by 1030 at the latest. Had all my ducks in a row everything signed as needed etc etc.

In MA, it's the same price as the standard but you need to go in person and provide more documentation to get it. The standard renewal can sometimes be done online.

I have very little luck doing anything online in MA other than renewing a registration. Every license renewal (granted I've only had two) has had some obscure rule that prevented me from doing it online.

I hate the eye test. When I first got my license, I failed miserably and had to go to an eye doctor who told me my vision was fine and signed something for me to take back. Same thing happened to me when I was in middle school--school was convinced I was blind, eye doctor said I was close to 20/20--it's something about those 1970s lighted boxes, I think. If I have to go in person again, I think I'll just see an eye doctor before I even go and get the form in advance.

my left eye is janky but my right eye is over powered to make up for it like a terminator.

    :transformer:

With both eyes and normal driving I can see a okay. They tell me to close my right eye and I can’t see squat close up.

The last time I went, it was to renew my license. They had just opened a new location, so not many people were there. I was in and out in 15 minutes. Only had to prove I can still see.

Yeah I can never do an HOA. My in-laws live in a HOA home in RI and I cant stand the rules. I get it for them as they are older and only live there half the year so they dont have to deal with yard work etc. but I couldn't deal with it.

Also I loathe walking into any RMV...

The eye doctor said I had 20/20 in one eye and 20/40 in the other last time. I can't actually tell which is stronger, so I'm not sure that's still the case. I don't have any issues reading street signs or anything from a reasonable distance, though, and most of my friends who wear glasses are hopeless at that without them.

I couldn't do an HOA either. I know sometimes when new developments are built there's a set of initial "rules" if you want to call it that which are mainly about the design of the house, which I am fully on board with. Like for example if you have a street full of Colonial style houses that are all worth $600,000-700,000 someone cannot come in and put in a small ranch or a raised ranch, or you cannot do a 16 car garage and a barn and paint your house purple, which I get in regards to making a subdivision, but the day to day stuff is rough. My friends live in one that are trying to ban anything over 2 tons because they don't want people driving their contractor trucks/vans home. I don't think they've taken a look at the curb weight of your average full size sedan these days. For the most part, I don't care what people do in their own home as long as it's not an eyesore.

That being said, since there's always drama on the local FB groups one guy was upset that his neighbors called some board on him because his house is literally a junkyard with like 10-20 lawnmowers in various states of disrepair, a few broken cars, etc. There's a fine light between a project car and blight.

the other thing is a lot of towns have rules and laws for stuff like that too that you don’t need an HOA for. No thanks.
