I could never have an HOA for all the reasons everyone else listed. Not paying my mortgage to have some fake appointed authority tell me what I can and can’t do to my house. My co-worker bought a house and, after the closing, the HOA came to his new house and told him ‘the previous owner was supposed to have you sign this as part of the sale’. It was the HOA agreement. He refused to sign it and apparently it’s like a big thing in his neighborhood for the HOA. He gets along great with all his neighbors, the people running the HOA apparently have relentlessly tried to get him to sign up.
Let me find the receipt from them, I think it was A1 tree service, I know they were out of Framingham.
Edit, can confirm, A1 out of Framingham. It was a while ago when I had this done, but looks like they’re still rated highly on BBB, Home Advisor and Angie’s List though.

My folks moved to a senior living place in Whitman 10 years ago. An adjustment as they always owned houses.

My dad hates it. Says the problem with HOA boards is people on them, especially in retirement places, just want to feel important and/or like to bust balls. We went to use the exercise room once and there was a sign "Please turn off lights when you leave" on the door..my dad just rolled his eyes. Said someone is probably walking around now feeling like the shit because they hung that sign.

We were looking at building in a subdivision that didn't have an hoa, but had covenants. Found out no fenced in yards, no trailers, and no commercial vehicles (Evan has a work truck). So we are pretty much too redneck for nice subdivisions

Depends on who is in the neighborhood. My parents house is in a covenant neighborhood. No fence I know is one thing. But no one really complains much

Probably, but they are also on a private road. The guy at the top of the street who is loaded is about the only one to bitch once in awhile

Speaking of blight, I have to ask you, how long was the creepy bus on West Pond St by your house? I know it's gone now and a house put up, but that stupid thing was nightmare fuel for me (I have a weird thing where I get creeped out by old school buses that are abandoned and/or converted to something else.)

There was a house for sale a few doors up when I was looking for my house and the creepy bus made it a hard stop.

Some places allow you to park commercial vehicles in your driveway, as long as you cover all of the company logos while it's parked. You can cover your vehicle in magnetic squares to hide them, but you can't use a car cover o_O

Well started to clean one of the sliders again today..... Managed to have the grinder buck back, hit my face shield, then cut a hole in my shirt. Nearly lost my left nipple lol. Have a line from shoulder to next to my nipple lol. Can't even undo the angle grinder now to put a new sanding pad on. So I ordered a lot of new stuff from harbor freight lol

    Two things.

    1. Maybe it's best not to clean a shirt with a grinder. It seems like an ineffective way to do this.
    2. Judging by the typos / autocorrect / etc, maybe stay away from the angle grinders when you are in whatever state you're in?

    Carry on.

Leave it, it's way better that way. I'd just make a second try.

    EDIT: Too late.

Top of my skull I can't recall it not being there, that's going back to 2004. I'll ask my brother in law next time I see him b/c I'm curious as well, they lived there about 12-13 years before us
