Makes sense, but always a bargain to be found eventually..at least keeping one eye open. At basically 13 years old I do agree you'd probably be better off not putting a new trans in on top of the engine you already did.

It took me close to a year to find the donor machine for mine, occasionally they came up for parts but there's 3 or 4 different transaxles in the hydro on mine and only one would fit my particular machine. My standard email was to introduce myself, what I was asking about, etc (so they'd know I was real) and then request them to look on the right side of the back for the tag# on the trans. One guy told me come look for myself..nah, not driving 2 hours on a chance. Told him I have cash waiting if it's the one I need but if he can't take 30 seconds to look then it's TYFYB

I'll pm you I'm not interested in naming shaming the dealer. Like I said sales team was excellent.

Yeah it's been about that in Seekonk for a while now too.

I usually ferment mine twice; after the primary fermentation in the bucket it gets racked into a carboy for the rest of the solids to settle out. For beer it only takes a couple more weeks, but I've had hard cider batches that have taken as long as 3 months for all of the pectin to settle out.

The cider is a little bit of an experiment, might take a lot longer than anticipated. One jug is slowing down so I'll check it next week and might have to transfer it to secondary and let things settle. I used a champagne yeast so there's a very high likelihood that it's going to turn to a very dry apple wine if I let it go too far. I've been looking up cold crashing to stop the fermentation while there's still some sweetness left. Next batch, I think I'll try an ale yeast instead.

I prefer the ale yeasts for ciders; they definitely leave you with a sweeter farm-style cider instead of a dry one.

Depends on their response if they own up to it and do a new stud/lug or not. I found 2 more when I checked this morning, so total of 3. One on each front and one on the pass. rear. I'm guessing they nascar whipped them on. I haven't called them yet need to figure out when I can drop it off with the wife to pick me up/drop me off etc. first. If they're dinks I won't feel bad.

Gotta be careful with cider - can turn vinegar. Wife tried it back in her college days, it didn't turn out well.

I found that out a little too late in the ordering process. Turns out, the YouTuber I was watching actually likes dry ciders (I very much prefer sweeter ciders). Oh well, it'll be an experiment I suppose...
I've been reading about that also, seems the key to not allowing that to happen is to keep everything air tight and not let natural yeast and bacteria into the cider. So far, the only thing I did was crack open the bottle, pour in some yeast (and brown sugar in one), and throw on an air lock. As long as I keep air exposure to a minimum, I'm hoping I'll still end up with a cider when all is said and done (or I guess legally an apple wine).

The commercial stuff sometimes has preservatives in it that will kill your yeast, too, so you've got to be careful there as well.

I was pretty careful with what I started with, the apple juice I chose has a single ingredient, apple juice. Who would have thought it would be a big deal to find apple juice with just apples?

He's lucky, doesn't look like he hit anything but he'll still likely have to shovel out his shorts.

Oh man I have some good clips from my dash cam too. Nothing spin out or crash related, I do have the meatball that pulled out in front of me and then stopped in a snow storm I came inches from hitting them. Or the other meatball that was divebombing through a parking lot and came around a box truck and made me poop myself, 2 seconds later would have taken my bumper with them.

You don't have to send footage of your own stupidity, but it would be a damn good thing to have if another meatball pulls out on me in a snow storm and decides to stop in the middle of the road. Otherwise, I rear ended someone and it's he said she said. :notsure:

Good point. I'd like to have one honestly, for the others out there. Or for wildlife. I had a moose incident that was epic. Had I got that on camera, 2 mil hits on YouTube for sure.

hah. I was stuck behind someone yesterday in Seekonk who stopped for a turkey in the road. Once the turkey crossed, they hit their hazards and I could see them stopped to take pictures. Stopped in a free flowing road. I laid on the horn once I saw they had stopped to be taking iphone pictures of a turkey. People are idiots.

I'm sure I've caught some comedic stuff but I didn't save any of it.
