    What to do in quarantine? I have two weeks back to back in July....

    Road Trip. Probably.

    unnamed.jpg

    Would be really cool to do a west coast thing but I think I'll probably scoot around Texas and then out to FL and back up. Friend is at an AFB in Okalahome, can't remember which one so I just put in Tinker as a placeholder. KC BBQ. Austin/Dallas/Houston for a potential move, Fam in Jacksonville, Charleston potential move. And then a quarantine for 14 days when I get home yippee!

    Decided to do this a few beers in last night, so still very early stages. Any suggestions from y'all? Originally I was going to do Buffalo -> Michigan -> Nashville but I cut out Michigan.

    I paid off my truck today. I'm quite excited about this. Since daycare was closed we were paying only 20% tuition rates. I basically dumped 50% of the savings into paying off my truck. Of course with the DMV being closed / partially open / the DMV I won't get my title in forever, I'm sure, but I'm excited that it's paid off. The last time I went to pay off a Tacoma, well, you guys know what happened to that one.

    Now I'll just put my monthly payment I was paying into paying off the Jeep. Or...I could just buy Another WRX / STi early, but that's silly and foolish. Is being silly and foolish dumb? Likely.

    Yeah, that's heavy stuff for sure. I know that the asphalt reclaim that I was hauling in the trailer I rented last summer was super heavy; I was asking for 5 tons per load, to try and avoid going too far over my truck's rating. The guy loading went over by like 1/2 a yard on one of the loads and suddenly I was hauling 17k :laugh:

    In the summer, and yeah I agree. We want to move to the heat though. Michigan is the opposite of that from RI.

    Charleston you're gonna wanna more look at Mt. Pleasant, Awendaw, McClellanville, or other areas just outside Charleston. North Charleston and West Ashley have their bad areas. Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island are nice as well but expensive

    :thumbsup::thumbsup:

    Yeah that one we haven't been to yet. We went to Austin on "vacation" (family doesn't know we're scouting a move....yet....though some did ask some pointed questions....). I'll pretty much be passing on through maybe stopping for a day or an overnight and a morning in Charleston. We'll see what ends up happening though, if we end up moving there we'll end up doing a lot more research on areas and visits. Thank you though!

    :anonymous: been there was told to stay here :p

    I asked actually if anyone had done the Charleston to Austin move (or visa versa) in those threads. We'll see, I'm less enthused about Charleston than Texas I think.

    Revised roadtrip plan.... :spy::spy:

    2020-06-26 15_55_13-Bing Maps - Directions, trip planning, traffic cameras & more.jpg

    Had to tell it to not send me into Canadia. Was planning to go RI to Nashville, but then the Charleston to RI trip was pretty much the same road. That's boring.

    With this the only overlap will be the 4ish miles it takes me to get from East Providence into Providence, then I head to upstate NY and come back in via NYC and CT. I'll probably jump to Lake Ontario to check it out. Michigan is a probably depending on the timing, and this route puts me into the desert of TX away from the humidity to try out "the drrryyy heat". I'm thinking a day in each town in TX, that's where I want to spend the bulk of my time.

    I go to Charleston once a year so I'm biased lol. I stay in Awendaw in the middle of Francis Marion National Forest

    yeah I’m doing cab camping for this trip. By the time I hit Charleston I’ll probably be not showering until I get home to R.I. that’s basically my last stop. Don’t want to draw attention to me scallawagging about during quarantine especially after going to Texas and Florida hot spots.

    hmmmm. I’m debating. I don’t know how much time I’ll have at that point. To be fair too, Denver is a maybe at this point. If I cut Denver then certainly I’ll have some time. I was planning to likely try to drive along the coast for a lot of SC if possible.

    will do thanks! This is also assuming some routes. I can cut Michigan without being too concerned, which would put me RI to Nashville which goes that way. But then the in and out legs overlap for like 300 miles. I don’t want to have that much overlap. We’ll see. I’ll start looking at times and expected travel times and where to kip up over this weekend and actually get a real plan in place.

    Hmm. Tempting. I’m going to sit with maps and plan out the route and timing and where to crash every night this weekend.
