For whatever reason, AT&T is the only provider that covers a lot of the area I spend time in. Verizon has absolutely nothing at my mom's, for about 1/3 of my 40 minute drive home, or for a significant stretch of Rt 2 which I drive quite a bit. I wish that weren't the case because it makes it unrealistic for me to switch carriers.

Same for me. Typically if I’m on a road now out there I’ll have coverage but if I’m out in the woods it’s spotty.

I have an iPhone 7 and without my giant case it’s the right size. Some of these new phones are way too silly big. We’re reversing course we went from small being a selling point to big being a selling point. I don’t like it. More screen to break, and a giant phone to hold and fit into pockets. I have an iPhone 5 for work and I love that size. I don’t typically use iPhones but they’re “free” via work so might as well. “Free” as in I have a work phone I can now check emails at 7 at night from home etc.

my work phone and personal phone both run off att. And as mentioned my personal plan is the prepaid. Work is contract. My personal phone will get signal in my plant when my work phone won’t, more than just once. It’s funny to listen to everyone complain like the sky is falling when they don’t have a signal - just get up and walk 50ft and talk to the person. But we have a paging system which might be a necessity in my next role - if they have a paging system and it’s used as often as my plant, no chance. I don’t know how many times I’ve had a page to call someone like my desk phone didn’t even ring you lazy shit. Not to mention if you page me to summon me somewhere that won’t happen, if I’m not at my desk and you think your need is more important than whatever I’m attending to now, I have zero sympathy that I’m ignoring you.

sorry. Rant over. Hate paging systems.

Yeah the screen size of this phone is a little bit bigger but I didn't go as big as I could! The note phones are much bigger than this! I needed a little bit bigger screen as my eyes are not what they used to be .

I'm trying to get new accounts made, 120 faculty laptops distributed, over 1000 student devices, 100 cellular hotspots, access control system additions, a few new systems implemented, plus normal daily issues, etc. I've been getting a couple teachers stopping in and wanting me to drop everything because they can't figure out how to navigate the PD trainings that every single one of their 100+ colleagues could without issue. They're the ones who suffer from learned helplessness and never ever try to figure something out before asking for help. I've spent years trying to guide them to resources and showing them how to figure things out for themselves, but they always resisted. Now that we are so buried that we can't lose 15 minutes every time they walk in to hold their hand, they're in a panic. I won't lie, I have no sympathy.

I went Verizon to Sprint in late 2017 because I got sick of watching my data and Sprint was $30-40 cheaper a month when I put in new phones. The quality of coverage was a step down, but the unlimited data a step up.

I noticed a steady increase in coverage until the merger and the quality of coverage really dropped, but has been better as of late. I don’t rule out a change in the future but 95% of the time I’m in a coverage area.

My iPhone 7 is now three years old so it’s doing the standard breaking off and on. I’m on iOS 13 and have been pushing off updates as there’s always a push to break the phone with the newest updates. I notice even iOS 13 has killed my battery.

The iPhone SE is super appealing to me and will likely be my next phone being that it’s the same size as the 7, but with the guts of the 10. My wife went from the 7 Plus to the XR and I took her 7 Plus for a week before I gave up on it. I can’t do a large phone. It doesn’t fit well in my pocket or in my cup holder. I’ve been trying to put it off to keep my monthly bills down.

I had Sprint for at least 7 years. My experience was a steady increase in service until the merger and then a steep decrease in coverage. The rep at Best buy told us that he's heard it this way more than customers getting better service although he did say he's heard that too a couple of times.

I have the old SE which is a 5. It also doesn’t have the stupid no bezel screens so when it falls it doesn’t break instantly. Which is why I have my big ass cases. The 7 screen curves around so you have glass on the corners. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

I've had Verizon forever, about 20 years . Very rarely an issue. I've never had an iPhone. Seems like smashing the screen is a right of passage or something with those phones. I've never broken a screen on any Android phone I've had, and I don't baby my phone or stuff them in massive cases.

At work we'll make a video or a step by step powerpoint/google sheets presentation for new things (or things people should know how to do) that are idiot proof...and still people have issues...but you try...

A lot of people don't realize there's a gorilla glass cover ON the screen..and the cover is cracked and can be removed with a piece of tape and razor...and then replaced...I see people with this all the time "My screen is cracked..." no, your screen protector is cracked..."WHAAAA???"

I haven't used a screen protector since my Moto Q. One of my coworkers cracked the glass on his Note 9 and it was months before he realized it was only the screen protector. He was all set to buy a new phone.

No need to search the internet for a photo... Here’s the bag phone. Yup, still in the basement.

So 1/2 my family has dipped their toe in employment with that organization...
I still remember first it was New England Telephone...and then they were bought by NYNEX and then Bell Atlantic which was Bell Atlantic/NYNEX mobile (your bag phone) and then Verizon...and several work stoppages/strikes in there (mom was on strike like every time there was a contract change...there's something funny about "Oh, this summer I picketed with my mom..." I think we were even in the paper once...the shameless use of the poor children ;)
This is the jingle that still 'rings' in my head..

little did we know at that time is that the bag phone was just the beginning of the 24/7 days a week of the boss being able to contact you about the job even on days off/holidays and much more intrusions into your life

My first phone. Still in the junk drawer. Still powers up. I actually used it as an alarm clock for a couple years after I upgraded to a different phone.
