I think new wheel bearings are one of those "Oh wow...how bad was it" repairs...

Definitely noticed once my driver side got done last year. Now with the roof rack I'm so used to the wind noise this noise now didn't even phase me unfortunately

Have to do my wife’s wheel bearings on her Camry. :( speaking of wheel bearings recently....

Not sure which one it is, I know it’s on the left but I’ll look at just doing all of them. It’s a hybrid so this could be fun.

    :boom::welder::itllbuffout:

Haven't decided if I want to take a crack at this bearing. DS I was able to get done under warranty (bought the truck used) but now either way I'm paying for it.

yeah it’s easy enough on a Camry at least. I’ll probably do both fronts and see if that fixes it. I’ll have to check the brake pads tomorrow because if those are in bad shape then I’m doing those too.

Do the bolts for the hub screw in from the outside or inside of the truck? I had a very rusted hub on my old Cummins and the bolts screwed from the inside. Ended up loosening the bolts just a bit and wedging the socket/extension against the frame and bolt. Started the truck and used the power steering like a press to pop the hub right out. Worked like a charm.

It's an easy job. Hardest part is separating the spindle from the hub. Get a dead blow hammer and just go to worn. Or whack the damn thing with a sledge since you're replacing it anyways. It can definitely take some sweat to get them separated. But it's like 10 bolts total to remove the hub/ bearing assembly after taking the wheel off. Besides the axle nut everything is standard hand tools.

Basically don't be a bitch and once you've got the hub to spindle bolts loosened (you can't completely remove them) beat the shit out of it and it'll come off.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
Nope! Calipers were all good. All pistons moved freely and no leaks. Also no parts seized!!!
    It sure is!
I can't believe how dirty that tube is on your brand new truck!
    4hrs? Wow!!!
Anti seize is your friend! While the rest of the world is using lock tight on all there bolts we here in NE need to use anti seize on everything. I've done my brakes before and used anti seize on the caliper bolts, brake pad pins and the little brake line retaining bolts. That's why everything went so well this time!

We've been working to finish part of our basement the last few weeks. Sectioned off a mechanical and storage area and then framed and drywalled the rest. The outside walls were all framed and insulated anyways, so not much work there, mostly drywall. One more coat of on the walls in the basement this morning then I'm done. I thought it would be a relatively quick job, but with all the cutting in and whatnot I've been painting for about 10 hours a day the last three days. There were alot of pipes and other things to drywall around so a lot of corners in some sections. Never thought I'd be so sore from it either. Should only take 3 hours or so to finish up today though then ready for trim and doors this week hopefully. Goal is to have it all ready by the end of this week so that if carpet installers are ready early, so are we. Free HD installs on the carpet so hopefully that goes well.

Then we will have almost doubled our living space, and created an area where we can keep all the kids crap as she gets older and needs places to play. Insulation in the ceilings so that if she crys/screams we have a place to bring her if someone is trying to sleep etc..:amen: We created a bathroom, but don't have the $$ to finish it right away, but in the next year or so we will add the fixtures. It will be nice to have a bathroom down there, especially since we will be also using the space as a guest room.

Oh, and I can set up a decent spot down there to hang out when the wife wants to go to bed as well:thumbsup:

Yep, sort of justifies the catch can! All that oil is just what I got on my hands from taking off the catch can and transferred to the pipe. I still took a couple microfiber towels and cleaned out the inside so it was clean. What’s sad is, Ford has an air/oil separator... you can see how well it works.
‘Several’ is a very broad term... plus, I had to be careful because my boys were riding their bikes on the driveway right outside the garage and I didn’t want them to learn any new words...

It is, you can see the oil that’s been put back into the engine from the OEM separator. The damn thing had a lot of oil still in it also but it’s sealed so I couldn’t even drain and clean it. Hopefully, it’ll clear itself out in the next few thousand miles now that I stopped more oil from being able to go into the system.
