Doing the whole window is probably easier than just the glass, and probably only slightly more expensive.

So you didn’t Napster, neither did I, nor do I have way too much music that was downloaded. Hey there is only so much you can do when in caribou maine for a few years.

Good to know about Amazon music. I didn’t know that I’ve used it for a few minutes just to see if it works. So that’s a no, then. Got it. I think the added cost would be the same as keeping Spotify which I do like, it’s just lowering costs where possible/not paying for something and not using it. Never mind!

I have an iPhone and use CarPlay a decent amount so I stick to Spotify. I tried google a few years ago. I’ll give it another whirl and see how well it works with the truck. Spotify is pretty slick. Apple Music is better but I don’t use it. If and when I go back to android phones then I’ll look at it more. :notsure:

agreed. The whole window will be a heck of a lot easier. And allows you to make sure everything else is still good with it.

I was too young for Napster, but LimeWire, then eventually BitTorrent. I have so much torrented stuff it's crazy. I have over a terabyte of music. I would find an artist I liked, and I would just download their entire discography in FLAC if possible.

I would replace the whole sash, if I could. I don't want to replace the whole unit. There's a lot of brake metal trim on the outside that I'd have to be really, really careful removing or pay someone to bend all new crap to put it back. I can replace the window no problem, I don't have a metal brake though and it seems silly when all I need is one piece of glass. I found a place locally that will make me a new insulated piece of glass for like $100. I just how to figure out how to get the old piece out! I think, if I pull the screws from the bottom, the window will come apart and I can reassemble it, but I'm not sure. Like I said, I'm used to seeing a glazing stop that you remove with a trim tool.
I just google'd that... What's sad is she's probably pulling in more than all of us regular NE BS TW'rs put together.

I use Youtube Music on my iPhone constantly, and it works with Apple Car Play as well!

It's $9.99 a month, no ads, no limits, and you get ad-free Youtube as well!

You should be able to get whatever flashing you need for it at any hardware store. Unless your house is brick? Chances are what you have is builder quality and the glass isn't replaceable. And maybe 15 years ago you could probably buy the whole sash, but not anymore.

Personally I'd suffer with the ruined glass until you are ready to replace the whole unit anyway.

I forgot about those. I have some torrents stuff for sure, I stopped when I thought my comp was getting infected with lots of crap. Not to mention the letter I got from my cable provider for sharing files.

HMMMMM. I do actually have a 30 day trial running now for the ad free stuff, which is bitchin'. Now, THAT I will have to look at long term!

edit: I just thought of it, spotify is a "group" sub as well, we each have our own accounts, so I'll have to look at that. Also, she will soon have/already has a .edu email SO we might be able to pull off a student rate. Last I remember a student rate didn't jive with the family setup though. Me and her at 15/mo on spotify I think.

I was operating under the assumption 'if someone can build it, someone can unbuild it'. I was hoping these were made in the era when things could be fixed and not always replaced.

The flashing itself isn't anything spectacular, but it has a couple bends in it, it's not just flat flashing. It's just not something I have the tools in house to do. If I'm really careful, I could salvage the trim but I haven't had much luck salvaging stuff from this house. They tended to glue things in or use 3" spikes to secure molding...

    The windows are vinyl.

Never was a fan of spotify either. And I haven't used pandora since they sided with cop killers.

Can I get a picture of the screws and the bottom part of the sash? It sounds like it should be as easy as unscrewing the screws and popping the bottom off, but...

Oh yeah, I see what's happening now. You're screwed.

My guess is the window doesn't come apart. That was at a time when vinyl windows were disposable by design.
