They are heavy, ~100# each. At least for the 3/4" one. I have them in my basement for my garage gym flooring.

The bench vise method is what I used on my Tacoma, it worked well enough. I'd imagine it'd work fine for an ATV. That's a hell of a score!

Thanks! It's new-to-me as of October.

He's a huge Tool fan so it wasn't surprising when he decided on that name.

Yeah, I picked it up figuring that if I couldn't get it running I could always just sell it for parts for more than I paid for it.
Apparently the guy parked it a couple of years ago because the rear universals were getting bad, never got around to fixing them before he died, and then nobody could find the key while they were cleaning out his house/garage. So getting it into the truck was fun...
But, once I got it home I cleaned the carb and tank out, changed the oil, gave her some fresh fuel, jumped the key switch (super simple setup--a hot wire in and two wires out; one for the headlights and one for the ignition) and she fired right up. I've got a new key switch on order ($10!) to replace the current one, and then after that will be to do the u-joints & wheel bearings, the rear brakes, and a fresh battery and it should be good to go. At which point I'll probably have about $500 in the whole thing :notsure:

I'd keep it when you fix it up. I love having my Grizzly around. Plus it's just fun to take through the woods.

Yeah, I'm not planning on flipping it. I love the old King Quads and have been looking for one for a while but good deals on them don't turn up all that often. They're usually beat to hell with high mileage and broken plastic, or they're in decent shape but the seller wants almost as much as a new quad would be.
But 5 speeds, 3 ranges & diff lock in a light little package means you can go pretty much anywhere with them and they won't even break a sweat. My cousin had one when I was younger and in super low with the diffs locked it would climb anything or push snow with the grill.

Three ranges must be interesting. My Grizzly just has low and high and it's a CVT. I think it'll still do about 30 in low range. A super low would be helpful sometimes.

Before my Dad passed, was going up to L/A area a few times a week, when I could take the bike, RT 202 and those other roads were awesome, I have no desire to ride the bike on the highway, just encourages me to go fast.

Yeah, they're not that fast (I think they top out around 40 in high range) but in super low/1st gear the ratio is something like 120:1. All kinds of stump-pulling, rock-face-climbing torque even though the motor's only 280cc

I used to ride down to Rochester NH to visit a buddy of mine pretty regularly, and always took 202. Nice scenic ride and usually fairly fresh pavement.

Back in 1996ish, I drove all or almost all of 202, from Philli to Rochester NH, then went from Rochester to the end, can remember exactly where that was, but thinking Bangor.

If I had a motorcycle, I’d have something like a Ducati or an Aprilia and I’d promptly die.

I’ve never been on one, but dirt bikes look kinda cool. I’d actively get severely hurt given my lack of skill with pedal power.

My cousin had the LT500 with an upgraded piston that was apparently insane, but I was seven at the time, so the only time I sat on it was when it was stationary. I would have killed myself on that too.

I did ride on his snowmobile when I was in junior high (a 1975 Arctic Cat Panther) and flipped it into a tree. Oops. So I technically didn’t kill myself there.

Maybe outdoor power sports aren’t my thing. I did love the jet skis I rode in Aruba.

I have had mine up to about 50. I think it'll do around 65. Typically I am at 20 or less. There just isn't much of a need to go fast on a big utility ATV and with the big knobby tires and soft suspension it's kind of terrifying at high speeds anyway.

Same reason it's probably best I never had a motorcycle. My wife will never permit me to get one, as my mother would not when I was younger.

Though the kiddos ride their dirt bikes in the recycling center across the street from me often..hear them all the time

Anything more powerful than a smaller dirtbike and I'm dead. Anything that can go over 45 on the road and I'd probably die.
It's my only rule besides the obvious "no cheating" and shit like that.

I've had speed issues my whole life and I know deep down if I ever bought one I'd die as soon as I got comfortable. Crashed enough other stuff to know how I get:bikewheelie:

Yeah, I've never really had any desire to exceed 25mph on an ATV. I've always been more interested in what they can go up, over, or through than in how fast they can go.
