Hope everyone had a good Christmas! I just spent a couple hours cleaning the truck. The bottom of the girlfriend's coffee cup gave out on Christmas Eve and though most of it went into the coat in her lap and I cleaned it when I got home I could still smell coffee the next day. So it's sat in the garage with all the windows open for a day and a half now and though the smell seemed to be gone I just thoroughly cleaned it again. I'm hoping it's 100% gone now.

In more positive news, she got me a dehydrator for Christmas which I'm excited to try. A guy at work told me London broil works the best of what he's tried in his. I want to start with some jerky and fruit. Anyone have any tips?

Merry belated Christmas! Pretty quiet weekend. Chores and no fishing. Ice is looking nasty this year, hope that resolves itself soon.

Mmmmm, jerky! My boss makes it, I never had, but I heard the trick is not only cutting the meat thin, but consistent in thickness so it all finishes the same time. He bought some kind of purpose built cutting device for the meat all the same exact thickness.

Morning. Didn't get anything for the Jeep for Christmas, but did order something yesterday. Got a Bestop Trektop soft top. I actually like it because it doesn't go full convertible (and it's a fast back design), you can take the windows out and the front flips up. Probably won't put it on until March-ish, but they were running a mail in rebate so figured I'd take advantage of it.

To people in MA: Have you guys been down Copicut Road through Freetown Fall River Forest? It is a public road that is a dirt/mildly rocky trail. Went yesterday just to check it out and was pretty decent with all the rain we got.

Been a while - doing my seasonal check in - truck is still in one piece, getting some welding done to hopefully fix the frame. It's currently parked in my barn to stay out of the spray of branches falling off one of the 6 dead ash trees I have on the property. Just forked up 2.5k to get 11 trees removed on the property so Merry Christmas to my house.... Finished the engineered bamboo flooring on the second floor and now doing baseboard/quarter round trim over the next week.

Sad to to say the truck and other hobbies haven't gotten any love in months, I did however buy some new dewalt tools to help around the house. Along with getting quotes to get a ceiling mounted propane heater installed in the barn.

Merry Christmas all - hope everyone enjoyed it more than I did - spent the day pumping water out of part of my basement.

Any suggestions on how to deal with this? I ordered a front diff for my truck (Almost 10 days ago) and have been checking every other day for a tracking number. It shows as unavailable/not created yet. I get off work and see this message. This is the first message they sent me aside from the auto generated, “thanks for your order”
They haven’t tried contacting me via email or phone and now I’m out a front diff and a good chunk of change

I would make sure you have the correct phone number on the order and then give them a call to talk about the issue. If they don’t budge on not giving you a full refund I would dispute the cc charge.

I have a few times. My best friend lives in East Freetown. I haven't been down there in quite awhile, though. It's a fun area to plod around in, although I know there are a few turn offs that can get you yelled at if you go down (I inadvertently went down there, never got yelled at but later learned it wasn't a good idea to do).

Took advantage of the decent weather today and popped in the led lights I got for Christmas. Anyone else find the license plate lights to be a pain in the ass?

I left a voicemail last night with their customer service. right after i posted this, i got an automated text message from R&L carriers saying "call to schedule delivery." I called this morning and they said no worries, there was no return order placed on it and they received it last night, out for delivery today.
I will touch base with them on why they would send this message threatening non-delivery and only a partial refund when the part they shipped had not even arrived at the distribution center.

I bet that’s a lazy tactic. Send a message like that and the customer will call and schedule the delivery very quickly rather than having them try to chase the customer down to set up delivery. I bet 100% they never even attempted to contact you, just sent the email.

What ice? The pond had a few inches on it at the beginning of last week, but the high winds and rain on x-mas broke it up and melted it. We were back to open water as of yesterday morning.

LKQ is a HUGE global auto parts company. I would be a little disappointed if that was their tactic

Yeah we have some bays freezing up on the big lake, and a lot of the small ponds are skimmed with shitty ice but the general conditions are not great. I've usually fished the hardwater by now, but this weekend will be my first attempt.

Hell, even my duck pond is still open, and it's only 18 inches deep at the center

Anyone been to Crotched Mountain skiing recently? I've never been but am contemplating heading up there with my 6yo daughter this week. Was originally thinking Berkshire east, but Crotched looks to have more open, is basically the same price, and is 20 minutes closer (1:40 vs. 2 hours).
