They just take it out of you (not you specifically, since you rent) in real estate taxes. Last I checked you guys were like 6th in the country in real estate tax rates. A buddy of mine lives in Rochester, in a house that's valued lower than mine, and pays almost twice as much in real estate taxes. But, he makes up for it with sales and income tax savings.

Well mine? I pay 700 a year for 2 acres and 1600 sqft. My business is about 4k for 70 acres and over 4k sqft.

    My taxes are doing great.

these are the bills for half year payment

The funny thing is, this is where everyone says we get screwed in NH, but it's not the case. But our house prices are lower for comparable houses, so how do you compare? Lets compare equivalent houses anyway... the 3000sf house I built on 5 rural acres in 2002 cost me $215k all in- property tax about $4200/year- TOTAL. This was in the 14th highest tax rate town in NH. Whos got a comparison to MA or ME tax on a 3000sf house on 5 acres? Now I last paid taxes on that house in 2010, so I assume it's quite a bit more today but I bet it's around $6000/year.

I bet you guys pay as much or more.

For here, not bad but I'm sure someone from another part of the country would shit a brick if they saw what I pay in property tax and excise tax. That said, we also just built a new school, police station and fire station in the town and we voted to raise the taxes to make it all happen. In the end, my house will be worth quite a bit more as a result when I go to sell. My taxes still aren't nearly as bad as my parents' who live in Rensselaer County, NY. There's no industry there so the property owners foot the bill for everything. Their tax rate is ridiculous, even compared to mine.

I live in the lowest rate in the state. No nothing but an elementary school.

tax rate is same for commercial or residential because there is no zoning.

Almost no one can in the north east Id wager.

we have an old school mentality here and it’s slowly changing but not much.
Most residents have families that go back to the 1800s.

the local ski mountain condo taxes also add up fast and help take the heat off the people. Jiminy peak between tax and jobs really carries our town.

BTW our elementary school is tier 1 and been going all year in person. Continuing their ski program too.

only 700 people total, like 40-60 kids in the entire school lol

Our tax rate just went down slighly from last year, but my house keeps going up in value. Need to stop maintaining it on the outside so it looks shitty.....:bananadead: Damn yearly property tax is closing in on $8k, and our house is only ~1700SF. I don't think being lakefront helps, but neither does being consistently rated the #1 or top 5 school systems in the state coupled with a rather large multi-year main street corridor improvement project.

Convince the town the open a dispensary., Although, it would never pass in that town.

I'm excited one is opening in my town. I'll never step inside it, but it sure will bring in the tax revenue we need badly since we have basically no businesses.

Exactly, that's what I'm saying. I've heard my whole life NH is hell for property taxes but almost everyone I know in NH pays less than others in neighboring states.

We did that, it wasn't as much of a shit show as I thought it would be. I didn't want it to happen, but they're doing a good job controlling traffic and, we're sort of off the beaten path so it hasn't been a bad thing so far.

Hahaha we have ordinances against fast food, drive through etc.. that would never pass here. We have some large commercial entities in town, mainly EMC/DELL who've got like 5 giant campuses. They help offset the tax rate some, but we knew high taxes were a price we'd pay when we moved here in 2011. The wife wanted a good school system for when I knocked her up. #doitforthekids

Don't feel bad, I'm, at almost double that ($7,700 for 2021) with only ~1700 SF and 0.39 acres.

I feel like the one opening in my town will take a lot of the business from the one you're talking about. This one is going to be closer to 495
