I think we need to focus on long term solar, the panels that are being used now, are weak and just going to be a big ass trash pile some day sooner rather than later. If we could harness just one days worth of sun energy it’s like a full years worth of electricity.
    Wind, useless.

Hydo, rivers should not be used, too much environmental effects on ecosystems, but off shore, there is tons of potential. Think of the waves.

I'm of two minds on this one. I agree that they really shouldn't be building new dams, because of the disruption to established ecosystems.
But they should 'dam' well be maintaining the ones that are already up and using them for power generation instead of tearing them down, because ripping out a 100-year-old dam is just as disruptive at this point. Frequently it releases old toxins that have been contained in the sediment until this point, alters the flow of the river both upstream and down, and wrecks the established ecosystems on both sides as well.
In my parent's home town they're going to pull out the dam for the old mill, and the established ecosystem upstream is going to disappear. All of the animals that rely on a large body of deep, slow-moving water upstream are going to be suddenly homeless because it'll go from a long pond with a slow meandering current at the center back to being a fast-moving stream that virtually disappears during the dry months of the year. The way it is now, the dam evens out the flow of water so that there's always moving water in the downstream section, even in a dry year.
    :notsure:

Insulation, my hole load was only 7000lbs roughly and it was divided into 5 sections.
35 trucks they unloaded same way.

It is not going to happen by 2035, period. EV's are cool I guess, but fossil fuel isn't going to go away anytime soon. Maybe they'll find something else that can be turned into combustible fuel to replace dead dinosaurs. But the fact is that small gas engines/ cars are going to be cheaper to produce than EV's for the foreseeable future. And like people have already mentioned, the infrastructure is just not there. People freak out when utilities trim a single tree on their property cause it's overhanging a distribution line. Let alone building new transmission lines, or upgrading existing lines which to add more capacity typically entails making the structures taller. The grid as it sits right now, and for the foreseeable future does not have the capacity to support 100% electric. Couple that with the snails pace that the guberment move's at, and all that infrastructure is going nowhere fast.

Plus that doesn't even address where the energy comes from. Solar is essentially dogshit on a large scale here in New England. Even at a household level it's kind of dogshit depending on the time of year. Then say you have to bring in clean energy from other sources, like for instance hydro power from Canada. Well now everyone freaks out that you need to build new transmission lines. Wave generation has been being studied in England for a few years, but is still not close to commercial use. Offshore wind works ok but is not consistent and you get enviromentals complaining about the whales, and the Kennedy's complaining about the viewshed. And then you get to the EV's themselves and the heavy metals needed to make the batteries. All that shit comes from disgusting strip mines in 3rd world countries that DGAF about enviromental regulations.

Nuclear is the way to go. However all the enviromentals/ beatniks freak out about that too even though on the whole it's the non-renewable energy source that we have. There's that little issue of what to do with the spent rods though... One of the issues is after Three Mile Island/ Chernobyl everyone freaked out, and the regulations are way behind the technology. But that tech has only been tested on the laboratory level, not production level due to regulations. About 12 years ago the company I was at then was working on a new nuclear reactor to supplement 2 existing ones in upstate NY. But it never happened due to myriad of regulatory issues mainly stemming from them being pretty outdated.

That's just the short version of my possibly jaded opinion intermixed with a large smattering of facts. As someone who works in the industry, it just is not going to happen. Period.

this. Sure don’t make new ones, but why are we destroying hundreds of ones that have been there forever at this point?

cant harness the waves or use ocean wind cause costal elites can’t stand the sight of it.

I'd like to see them get Thorium reactors off the ground, but like you said it's unlikely to happen. At least not until there's a desperate need for them and it's on the brink of 'too late'

    cant argue with that.

When we talk about ocean or coastal energy, we also need to consider the “pools” that fill then drain with the tides at both times producing some energy. It’s been a while since I’ve done any reading on this, but there has to be a way for use to harness the energy in waves.
Then there is my little dream of having mini wind turbines along the highways, probably not even feasible, but just think of little pin wheels all up and down the sides of the road ways spinning due to the traffic moving the air, it’s like saving some of the energy wasted to move the vehicle.

And to the comment about our current grid not handling the energy needs, I agree completely and often wonder how to fuck Cali expects to manage this. Don’t they have brown outs every freaking summer now, just imagine when everyone is plugged in during the day while those ACs are cranking.

They've been studying harnessing tides for energy production for a while in England IIRC. But it's not at a commercially viable level yet.

They've been assessing the possibility of one up in the Lubec/Eastport for a while now as well.
