That's more than I paid for my diesel... Still sticker shocked by new vehicle pricing these days.

How did you get it so cheap!? Or did you factor in what you traded towards it?

My next vehicle is going to be a 2017+ 6.7 F-250 Lariat. I'm debating between CCLB or CCSB. I love my 8' bed, but good lord is that CCLB LONG!

You're telling me sticker shock. This truck purchase is NOT going well. Having real trouble making the right deal happen.

It was a stupid good deal, that's why I jumped when I did. I wasn't even looking for a new vehicle, I had just bought the black truck about 7 months earlier. And no, I'm not taking into account what my trade was worth, that was their asking price and I still beat them up on it. I just looked at KBB trade in value and it's about $3k more than I paid for it. They were desperate to move inventory I think. It's also an odd build spec, basically a step above a work truck so I'm guessing that didn't appeal to a lot of people. I'd guess you either go full on work truck or STX package or you go FU money and go Lariat ultimate or higher trim.

Serious question, what are you towing that you need a diesel? I know you have a Subaru and vape, so are you just doing it to add to your flat bill Monster hat wearing repertoire?

Wife has a deposit, almost any order is going to be delayed until 2022. Going to talk to the dealer soon and see what they expect beyond the 100 to order. If they think Im giving them more than $500 total to hold a car for 1-2 years they are going to be dissapointed. Its not like I can't wait until later 2022 or early 23 and get one for a discount after the craze is over like raptors now.

4runner has 70k miles on it and 6 years about. Its in great shape but I think shes ready to move on, not sure if she will last another 1-2 years in it.

Come back to the light side, get a nice first gen, fix it up real cherry and then use the left over 15-20k and use it to pay someone to tow your toys around for you :rofl:

'Need' is such a strong word. The gas engines have come a really long way lately, they'll out pull a lot of the older revered diesels everyone likes to rave about like the 7.3 International and 12 valve Cummins. Honestly, I jumped to the diesel because, for the price of it, I can run it for 2-3 years and, if it gives me any problems, I can damn near trade it for what I bought it for and during that time the major components will be in warranty the entire time. Unless things change in my life, I wouldn't anticipate my next vehicle to be a diesel, I'll likely go back to a 3/4 ton gas or a 1/2 ton with the heavy payload package.

OMG, even when my buddies tell me they will bring the bait they disappoint me! I'm bringing my truck, trailer, sled, flip shanty, auger and a million other things, they can't seem to be able to manage just bringing the bait. You think I can count on them to tow my machines every weekend?? And you think I can let anyone tow my precious boat and not have a heart attack?! I'd die!!

A dealer down the road from work gets a lot of odd trucks like that. Things like base XLT crew cab F-150s with the NA V6 that were more expensive new but had less useful features and power than the typical STX. Used they are steals though!

Sucks being the responsible buddy

Sounds like you need to just get one of those fancy rigs and find a low rate. It’s sucks when there aren’t many good options and with the market right now the buyer is bent over:evil:

Plus he got a good deal on it because it's got the body of a colander and a transmission made of pure arthritis.

Well with all of that other stuff you're bringing, what's one more thing? Don't be so demanding

The camper is really my only justification to own a truck. It's 7k lbs so I could get away with a properly equipped half ton (they're tough to find though and the 3/4 tons are just much more planted when towing). A lot of people tell me the other one, 'yeah, but you're in construction'. On a daily basis, my truck is nothing more than a commuter, I don't use it for work at all. The company has their own trucks that they use on site, my truck doesn't even have the right insurance for me to bring it on the job site, it just sits in the lot out back. :anonymous: I needed A truck to tow the camper but I bought THIS truck because I really liked it and having having that much power makes it the most fun vehicle I've ever owned!

Yeah, you are like me, we both would be far better off with a 20 year old 1 ton truck and a nice commuter car but who wants to spend the 95% of the time we don't need a truck in a boring vehicle?

No - going to keep it just covered in poly for now. I have the lawn tractor parked under the heater so it won't be somewhere I use for storage. I'm putting another wood rack to the left of the heater against the back wall.

When I cracked up my gray F250, I was actually sniffing around for a cheap commuter car. If I had been in a small commuter car and got into the same accident, I'm not sure I would have survived (not being dramatic, the front end took a hell of a shot and the heavy frame and the solid axle I think kept it from crumbling in). Bought another F250 and canned the search for the econo-box commuter.

Not bad at all! Come to think of it, I was looking at a 2012 CCSB 6.7 Lariat at Irwin when I worked there. It had like 120k on it, but they were asking $22,000 or something, and it was in good shape. I just want to get one with an aluminum body. I've even been considering (read: day dreaming about) finding a wrecked or parted out aluminum truck and cab/bed swapping my F-250, OR finding a 6.7 chassis with a crunched cab and bed, and swapping my 99 body (and VIN) over to it. That way it would look great and have all the power!

I tow my crawler on a full-steel tandem axle equipment trailer with 3/16" diamond plate decking.

Don't forget my white Oakleys and wife beater!

Really, I love diesel because they run forever (with the proper deletes done) and they get great mileage. On top of that, there is almost a limitless amount of power at your disposal. Oh, and as Mike says below me here, the resale values of these diesels is incredible! I can still get close to $10k for my 1999 F-250 Lariat just because it has a 7.3 PowerStroke in it.

I like driving a couch every day. It's quite nice! When Rona hit super hard and fuel prices dropped stupid low, I was driving my truck to work about 100 miles a day and living for it!
Hey, my cab is solid! And yeah, I may have hopped up my power level a bit and made my transmission start to threaten suicide, but I know the 4R100 is not an ideal candidate
I agree. It's cactus gray/green. I just picked it because it has the word cactus in it, and I thought that would sway the GF to let me order one
