My re-frame 06/09 ..no coating as they do my NH inspection every year and the Taco gets a good once over...That line of mine...."You take care of them and they take care of you " ;) I like walking into a service department and they all know you by your 1st name ....

Did he buy that Tacoma or is it on hold ???

I'd prefer a bolt on, but if I went bolt on i'd want something that wraps fully around the frame and doesn't require any drilling like the CBI ones:
But, those are $459 for the HREW without kickouts, +$100 for DOM, and +$75 for kickouts, plus shipping:eek:

So i'll just weld onto my new frame, and if I ever want to remove them i'll bust out the angle grinder remove them at the frame strengthening plate/gusset.

If you really want that CBI "bolt-on" system,PM Nathan and ask if they still sell that "Kit"...When they 1st started that was part of their package;saved you a few $$ by allowing you to weld the ends on BUT still have bolt-ons..;)....

I have found a set of Trail Gears and will be bolting those on...Most of the holes line up and drilling the frame is nothing compared to welding 8 plates...$$$ saved will be for my front skid plate....

So... you'd rather weld to the frame than drill 3 holes?

I see what you're saying. I'm just hesitant to drill into my new frame. I cringe at the thought of salt working its way into the holes and killing the frame. Welding is more, but at least you're not penetrating the frame.

1st gen, no slider mounting holes from the factory. Have to drill all of them if i'm not mistaken.

Ooh, that sucks. That was the only reason I went bolt on with the 2nd Gen, most of the holes are already in the frame, very little drilling. If I had to drill every bolt, I think I'd be in the same boat as you and just go weld on.

You guys have it easy. Get a good christmas tree bit and go to town. I guess in reality it's not that much more drilling, but it's still more than I would prefer.

If I am not mistaken BOTH TrailGear and Shrockworks show pix of where they bolt onto 1st Gen frames with existing holes...

You have to drill a few but I do not think all...

For welding them properly you want penetration for the welds. If I go weld on ill just prep the frame then TIG them. Ought to use that certification for something

I don't think there are existing holes doing a little research. Plus the 1st gen frames are boxed, so it would be a lot of drilling and would need some pretty long bolts.

Let me just say, Founders "porter" beer is disgusting. It tastes like coffee, chocolate and Budweiser

Can the guys that live near Hanscom AFB give me some decent places to eat for dinner? I'll be up there for 2 weeks for a class and would rather go off some local knowledge than through trial and error. Also anyone know of a good Brazilian jiu jitsu school in the area there that allows drop ins?

Blue Ribbon in Arlington is really good for BBQ. I went there a lot when we lived in Arlington, it's a little ways from Hanscom, maybe 20 minutes but worth it IMO.

Not sure on that one, think 2nd gen frames are based on the T-100 frame.

It's a combo. It's fully boxed to where the transmission mounts but is c-channel from there back.
