    I did the ones on my Tacoma because they were starting to squeak. I should have just cleaned them because the shoes and drums looked good, but I replaced everything and I don't think I ever got them right again.

    8.5 Fisher XV2, some switches, some lights.
    They go together better if you use a good set of locking pliers or (gasp!) a brake spring tool instead of hammers.

    The '69 has drums at all 4 corners and at this point I can pop the wheel, disassemble everything, clean & grease the pivot points and adjuster, reassemble and adjust everything, and have the wheel back on in under 20 minutes. The entire truck (including jacking and adjusting everything once they're back together) takes less than an hour.

    I like the super long flat head with a notched tip method. I only use the spring tool for the retaining springs

    I use a pair of needle-nose pliers on the shoe retainers, but for $5 the spring tool is super handy for the top springs and adjuster spring. I ditched the notched screwdriver years ago.

    We have 2 spring tools and I've personally just never liked using them. Would take some practice to become proficient with them on shoes for me
