Oof. Oil change from hell. 50% my fault.

step 1 drain oil. Can’t find the 16mm. Searching everywhere can’t find it. Go look online to confirm I need 16. Nope 14. Okay oil drained. What should have taken 10 minutes now I’m 15 minutes in. Annoying but meh.

step 2. Remove front skid. Hour later I finally have the support member off and am just taking the bolt off. The bolt was stripped but the backing nut that’s welded there to be threaded into - gone. So it was just spinning in space. Took forever and just yanking the thing to get it off. F it. Okay now I’m about 90 minutes into a 10 minute project.

(Oh forgot a step here - get annoyed by new air dam and take that off, not a lot of effort but a real pain in the arse when you’re already this deep into it and annoyed)

step 3 drain filter. Goes smooth success.

step 4 remove oil filter housing. Oil filter wrench - has gone to see the great abyss I guess because I basically turned over my entire garage and it’s nowhere to be found. 30 minutes later give up looking. Put drain thing back on housing and F it. I’ll do the filter next time. Snag the o ring in there....need to replace old o ring with the new one out of the filter box now I guess.

Step whatever I’m at now. Reassemble truck. Then clean driveway because oil splashed out of my catch pan.

here’s my skid plate splash guard thing. Tangled hunk of metal whatever.

10 minute maintenance. 2.5 hours later and I only did 80% of it. Need to get a filter wrench now. Will probably leave it as is for the road trip and then just do the oil change early around 7K miles after the road trip instead of waiting for 10 and do the filter with that one.

step however many- try to recount how many f bombs were dropped while trying to do the simple task of changing my oil. Too many to count.

what a pain in the arse.

I'm curious of the initials (someone PM me) but if it's who I think, let's just say this isn't just a case of being a rookie.

Same person wanted to buy some lights so I sent him a pic of a pair I had and had posted here for sale, had to take one out of the box to take a pic of the item per TW rules. He says maybe I'll give you $100 if you come to me but that's top dollar.

OK so I figure maybe he doesn't know..I show him a few places selling them at 160-180. He says "oh but that's for new, yours are used so you're lucky I'd think about that much even." Tells me taking one out the box is used..and wouldn't tell me where he expects me to drive to either.

So yeah if it's him, he's a con artist or just thinks people are stupid.

@Noelie84 I bent the frame on my 4Runner because of my brush guard. It’s mounted to the frame and took a good impact from a rock (and a Corolla)

I’ve suggested hopping on TW multiple times. No dice.
He’s the worst kind of stupid. He think’s he’s right about everything, but he’s completely wrong about everything.

At first I believed that but further conversation with him about my item (specifically the negotiation) proved he either is a weasel or just thought I was a moron.

Oh yeah, it's one thing to not know but WTF. Bellend

Do you guys have/use a dash Cam in your trucks when your driving?
Some of my favorite time waste is watching Utube videos of idiots challenging trucks.

I’ll be honest I ordered another. It was 10 bucks it’s the same size for both our cars so it’s not the worst thing to have around. I’m sure it will turn up when I do my spring garage cleaning - I’m well aware my garage is a shit show right now. I will probably put together an oil change tool set and set it aside though, so the oil covered tools are their own set.

I’m not in a big rig but I have one - if it was easier to pull footage (some of the new ones are voice activated and Bluetooth yaddah yaddah, mine is just simple and records to an SD card) I could start a “driving in east providence” Chanel just of my 12 minute each way commutes every day.

Will do, he is very proud of himself and how quickly he is figuring out the electric. He continues to talk about how much easier it is to play than the acoustic.

His next goal is to put a pickup in his acoustic.

Was looking to replace my fog lights with KC Hi Lites G4 and they don’t fit my year and the only way I can get them on my truck ( per customer service) is with a bull bar. For the reason of frame damage like you mentioned that’s not happening. So for months I’ve been considering the DD SS3 ...

In regards to the discussion on Bilstein 5100’s yesterday.

I purchased all four a couple years ago . My neighbor with a lift said he’d help but he didn’t feel confident in his old coil compressor and suggested I go with Monroe quick strut. So I did . Put rear ones in in my driveway . I like e them. So now that my truck is paid off I want to buy them (5100’s) preloaded, but I’m not sure what coil size I should use . OEM stock size or larger? Thinking headstrong or OME not sure . Suggestions?

want to level off my truck now and lift a little in the future

Hopefully he means like one of those damage-free ones, not like mount a pickup in there and ruin the guitar...
