It'd probably be ok if you just wanted to keep a beast in the garage for when you needed to tow, but a diesel that burns more expensive fuel but gets gasser MPG wouldn't be much fun to DD.

    ya but it's fun

    :burnrubber:

That would be brutal to live with as a DD. I mean if you use it all the time, sure, but if you use it once a month and then have to deal with parking that thing in the drive, at the store, all the time. Yeesh. I like troks but I have my limits for what I think is fine for a DD.

That's a great deal to get a donor truck, rip the 6.4 out, and put a Cummins in it.

This isn't pre-emissions, and it is so post-emissions that they pretty much commit suicide at 100,000 miles.

Also, you can't say "trailer" or "towing" or "mild grade" too loud near a 6.4 otherwise it'll overheat and cost you thousands. :notsure:
I'd get it for $9,000 maybe and spend the rest on making it not suck.
I've seen 3 somewhat running 6.4's in my 2 years at Ford. Plenty of 7.3's, 6.0's, and 6.7's... The 6.4's are a massive rarity.
They're decent if you delete and bulletproof them. I can't speak to mileage, but I think it suffers greatly because it is one of the first generations of DPF. These are also well known for melting people's bumpers in traffic because they go into regen and didn't have those fancy exhaust tips that venturi some fresh outside air in to help cool the exhaust, so they were just belching like 1,100 degree exhaust at the cars next to them

Break up and was running out of money, lost a lot of money last year. I also couldn't find an apartment for myself up there so moved back home.

Depends, MA actually normally includes stuff in their rent, a lot of places, at least in the Manchester area, didnt include anything with their rent, and for the most part was more expensive just for rent than out in western MA. I have 2 trucks so I watch that, plus insurance cost me 500-$600 more a year up there

Insurance is different, that's fair. And I'm talking owning, renting throws a bit of a curveball but still similar.

Yeah my insurance is not fun. 1700/year for me and wife last year. Tacoma and Camry. I love Rhode Island insurance >:|

Yea, I just didnt want to buy moving to a new area. Insurance for full coverage on both my trucks living at my parents is $1425 and the renewal in NH was going to be $1966, both prices after the pay in full discount plus some other discounts

Yeah, and if you get a dose of bad fuel you're looking at like $7k to replace the high-pressure fuel system pretty much instantly.

Looking at the picture of the front wheel, the frame looks pretty scaley. If the rest of the underside looks that way, that and the 6.4 would probably explain why the price is so low.

Basically, if it's attached to the engine, it'll go bad eventually.

We had a 2010 6.4 in a few weeks ago that got a tank full of bad fuel from BJs. There was algae in it, and it was like rust brown. It clogged his filters and lines, so we dropped the tank, blew the lines out, and replaced the filters. It ran alright after that, so we're crossing our fingers that it doesn't need the 'party pack' of 8 injectors and a new high pressure injection pump. Time will tell.

Do you know if the 6.4 has the CP4? I’ve been sort of half assed eyeing one of the disaster prevention kits but, still being under warranty, I don’t know if I want to mess with it...

6.4 has a K16 pump which is mounted "in" the block at the rear of the engine and under the turbo.

That being said, I have a fairly new 6.7 sitting outside with a pump full of glitter waiting indefinitely for a backordered party pack... get the disaster kit Mike
